Why do people say Spanish is the easiest language to learn for an English speaker?
Ok, no language is easy, admittedly, but I have to say out of all the languages one could learn, Spanish certainly is not the easiest. It's grammatical structure while resonably regular is significantly different to English - people say Spanish is a very regular language but it has enough irregular verbs, werid conjugations, general irregularities to drive someone round the bend.
The main positive things for an second language learner is that Spanish has a relatively easy pronouncation system (although not always), and is resonably phoenetic.
However, in my opinion, it is by no means the easiest language to learn for an English speaker. If you were looking for the easiest language to learn, then I feel that would be the main Germanic Scandinavian languages of Norwegian, Swedish and Danish. Those languages have a grammar strecture that is extremely close to English, the verbs don't generally conjugate and there are far less irregularities than Spanish.
I've never understood this myth about Spanish being easy, in my opinion, it's a complex language riddled with irregularities and annoyances for the second language speaker. It's a beautiful language once you learn it, but it's certainly a bumpy ride to get there, there are easier languages you could pick, in my opinion.

If you want to learn a language more closely related to English, stay with the Germanic languages, which English is, and try those from the lowlands, like Dutch or Flemish, though they are nowhere near as widely spoken as the Romance Languages of French and Spanish, which might be one reason for the myth of Spanish being easier to learn.
I have no idea unless they know something that we dont,, spanish is hard i agree..
I never heard someone said that, you are the first i always get the ‘it a complex language’ just for the reasons you said. And well i think it might be i don’t know i can’t speak as an outsider cos spanish is my first language =) but for starters the vowels are pronounce in a different way, that used to annoy me when i was learning english lol. Scandinavian, norwegian, danish wow those sound difficult to me.
what I found easier in spanish was spelling what you say is what you write
they only have short vowels and the only silent letter is is H
First off, no language is easy to learn. (you are right about that!) Some people will find that learning Spanish is easy and some not. Spanish for me is definitely a complicated language, with many irregular verbs and difficult pronunciation. I find learning Chinese really easy (Verbs are really easy!), and some people think this is one of the hardest languages to ever learn. Nobody can tell you that Spanish is easy or hard, its like telling you chocolate tastes like cheese (weird combination, but you get the idea), you’ll never really know till you (yourself) have tried.
Hey, I totally agree. Spanish is a very difficult language to learn for an English Speaking person. Of course it may not be as difficult as Japanese.
Because quite simply, it is. Pronunciation is dead easy, there are no silent letters such as in english (the h in while) or in french (the s in je sais). All letters are pronounced.
Grammar is fairly easy.
It is an easy language. I understand what you say about scandinavian and germanic languages being easier. This is because they are similar to english (our language developed from theirs) so to us they are easier. AS a language however, they are still pretty hard. Remember English is a very irregular language.
People say dat bc spainsh is closey realted to english. there alot of similar words they share. Personally, Spainish is really easy for me. But everyone’s diffierent n its easier for some ppl to learn a language over others.
Because it is… If you know the in and outs to Spanish speaking such as pronunciation, then it will be easy for you. I learned it fluently in just six months…
If you know how to role your tongue like eeeeeerrrrrrrrrh, then it will easy.. knowing the silents letters will help you out too. Other languages aren’t as simple as spanish.. 8 of 10 Americans will learn spanish in 6 months as opposed to learning french.
I think spanish is easy.
Ok, maybe not by learning at school, but i learnt it from watching "telenovelas" !
and no, i don’t like telenovelas (or whatever they’re called), it was just that at the time there were only 3 tv stations in my country (poor, i know), and what they put on is spanish and TURKISH telenovelas. And i don’t speak spanish, but i understand quite well, but if i’ve continued watching those stuff i would learn it very well just as a lot of my friends/people i know did.
Well, it also doesn’t depend on the language. I learnt english and french just by watching movies in those languages with subtitles on them..
And i love learning languages, as it’s easy for me (apparently), but i hate it when i have to learn the grammar stuff blah blah blah (i know very little about english grammar – but when i write stuff no one finds any mistakes in them).
Ok, i gave a very long answer (half of the stuff doesn’t answer your question) but i wanted to say that it depends on the person. And in the US it’s easier cause you can just watch Spanish TV and learn from it..
it s easy if you know english because of common words
