Why do people always say that Spanish is the easiest language to learn?
I get annoyed when I hear people saying that Spanish is the easiest language to learn. Do people think that they can make a Spanish word simply by adding an O at the end of English words? Those who say Spanish is easy because of its simple grammar have obviously never tackled the Spanish preterit tense. It has irregularities that would blow your mind. Spanish might be easier, but it is by no means the easiest. It has 14 tenses, which is more than French and English, and sometimes there are no clear rules on which to use, you just have to go with your gut. Also, have you ever notice how fast Spanish speakers speak? It makes learning to listen very frustrating. I've been learning Spanish for five years, and I still haven't mastered it.

I’m a native Spanish speaker, so to me its not that hard.
But Spanish is easier when it comes to pronunciation. English and French have many letters or phrases that aren’t pronounced.
The hardest thing about Spanish for me is the Subjunctives of verbs.
the only reason i can think of is that spanish is almost a completely phonetic language – much more so than english.
which means that a lot of the words are spelled the way they sound and it only has 7 or 8 vowel sounds while english has 15.
well, ive always thought that people who speak other languages speak fast, but i live in india, and a little indian kid who speaks both english and tamil, ask me how i spoke english so fast, and i dont think i speak fast at all. just listening to other languages sometimes sound fast to u, but they really speak at the same speed as we speak english. i know u think its hard to learn spanish, but if u spent some time in a spanish speaking country for a few weeks, spanish might come easier to u. if u have a sybling or parent who speaks spanish, try speaking only in spanish to them, it will help u to use spanish outside of homework and school. in actuality, english is harder to learn than spainsh. i do work and i work are the same thing in spanish, but 2 diferent things in english. it might have alot of iregularities, but what about goose and geese, knife and knives, moose and moose. those are also iregular. just think of how hard enlgish learners have it. what about be, bee, and b ? be glad that spanigh isnt ur first language, and english ur second, b/c ud have a much harder time.
Spanish is very simple to learn at first, since it is very phonetic and consistent with its pronunciation. At the beginner level when compared with French or Chinese for example, Spanish is much less intimidating to master especially for the common English speaker.
However, at it’s advanced level, Spanish does become a monster which is hard to subdue. Comparing it again to French for example, which is much easier to master French once the pronunciation and basic grammar is mastered.
So in short it’s because most people only know Spanish and other languages as much as introductory High School courses will teach them, which will naturally lead them to assume that Spanish is much easier. And they’re totally correct, given their observation at that level.
school is not enough u should try to talk to people who speaks spanish and u’ll see a great improvement. trust me ; )
i saw a video of this guy who lived in mexico for like 3 yrs and he was speaking spanish like mexican with the slangs and shitt..lol
I totally agree with you about the gut thing. sometimes i have to feel which one to use cause there is times where two tenses can be used in the same phrases. no language is the easiest to learn, you have to learn it which is hard at times but practice makes perfect (yea very cheesy haha)
Spanish, or any language for that matter, is difficult to some people because people have different abilities in acquiring language. Coupled with the fact that most Americans do not start learning a second language until they are self-conscious teenagers, any language is going to seem unsurmountable at times. It would be a great service to our society, especially with the influx of Mexicans into our towns, to offer Spanish at the elementary level. So, since you are probably a teen or older, I would suggest you live in a Spanish-speaking home, and community for a summer, or so. Do NOT speak or hear any English for that time period. You will be so immersed in the language, that you should be able to understand and speak a lot better. Better yet, if you lived in a Spanish-speaking country for a whole year, you would be completely fluent. Most kids ´´speak´´ Spanish in class only. If you don´t use it more than that, you will never progress, and the more difficult grammar to come WILL be a monster. So, if you truly want to get better, and cannot afford (money and-or time) to live in another country for a time, then I would suggest going to the local university and immersing yourself in some international clubs with native Spanish-speaking students. By the way, Spanish is the 3rd easiest language to acquire. Hawaiian is number 1, and Swahili is number 2. All of them are highly phonetic. Spanish has the main vowels – a,e,i,o,u,y. ¡Buena suerte! Good luck!
for english-speakers french is more easy than spanish
when you speak english you already know half of the french vocabulary
