Why are some reasons you'd like to speak spanish?
For Spanish class, I have to write a 500 words essay on why I'd like to speak spanish. I have a couple ideas down, but what are some reasons you'd want to?

I like to talk to my mom in Spanish because it helps improve my spanish speaking ability and I feel sophisticated.
It’s a good feeling to know that you can speak more than one language. ;D
I already do with friends, extended family; and even acquaintances in the city I live in. It helps improve communication + language skills. Plus as others have said it’s good to be able to speak another language (I happen to know 3, the other one being french)
I’m native spanish speaker, but, I’ve been learning english for years! and I had to do 500 words, longs tests, listenings…. you’ll be thankful you learned it. who knows….
also, most of central and south america speak spanish.
and is good to know another language… you’ll develop another part of your brain =)
Because we live in a global economy, and being multi-lingual is an asset when trying to do business with countries where Spanish is the official language. It is easier to be able to speak for yourself than to rely on an interpreter who might not be totally honest.
Besides, I am already bilingual (french and english). Spanish is a romantic language like french, so many of the words are similar. I can usually understand about half of a spanish conversation if it’s not spoken too fast.
If you live in the US then learning Spanish should be a no brainer. Here’s some more reasons:
Great on a resume
Opens up a ton more job opportunities
Makes vacations in Spanish speaking countries much much more enjoyable
Ease dropping on Spanish speaking conversations when people don’t think you understand is priceless
