where to study spanish in Guatemala?
I am planning on studying spanish for 1-2 weeks in Guatemala at the start of my 6month latin american trip and would love to stay with a Guatemalan family.
Dont know whether to study in Quetzaltenango or Antigua?
I would love any other tips too!
Gracias.

Antigua! I have been to Quetzaltenango multiple times and also to Antigua. Antigua is beautiful and has lots old architecture and has several schools for you to learn Spanish. You will find lots of other travelers there as well. Quetzaltenango (Xela) is quite large and crowded. There used to be some great things to do around Xela but they were ruined after a hurricane a year or two back. Plus, the trip to Xela from Guatemala City takes 4-5 hours by bus and it is up and down mountains (I got sick.) Antigua is much closer and much more beautiful. I have lots of pictures of both, if you would like to see some email me. I also recommend going to Lake Atitlan while you are there. It is VERY beautiful (it is in the book 1,000 places to see before you die)
it depends on where do you want to stay.
Antigua Guatemala is about 20 minutes from Guatemala City and Quetzaltenango is about 2 hours from Guatemala City.
Quetzaltenango has cold weather and Antigua is not so cold as Quetzaltenango is has a nice weather.
Both have lot of nice places to go and people are always good.
Antigua Guatemala has a lot of Spanish schools, I believe more than Quetzaltenango.
