What's the best program to learn Spanish?
I've seen the Rosetta Stone commercials and I must say that they market themselves very well. Does this program actually deliver such great results? Is the pricing pretty conservative? Are there any other programs that you would recommend? Thanks in advance.

Ive got this program (rosetta stone) for many languages; Including spanish.
And i’ve got to say, it is BETTER than the way they market it.
The techniques they use are very effective, and the amount it costs should in no way stop you from buying it, it’s worth it. You will see results very fast. It is far better than any audio CD you may buy. It is interactive, and visual. It covers all angles, whether you are a visual, kinesthetic, or auditory learner.
If you are dedicated, and use this program regularly, you’ll be like a native spanish speaker!
(btw i’m NOT an undercover Rosetta Stone selling agent
)
Good luck with your spanish.
Have you tried Michel Thomas? He’s really really good.

I love Rosetta Stone! I have it for Turkish, Spanish, Italian, and French, and I’m highly proficient in all four. No joke, my Italian professor thought that I was Italian when she first met me, or that it was a language spoken in my household. It won’t get you "fluent," but it’ll lay an incredible foundation. The pricing is relatively good…it looks like a big cost up front, but if you think about how much a language course at college costs ($1000+) for just ONE semester, it’s nothing. It’s just a really great way to learn a language. You never once see a translation, so you don’t look at a dog and think, "Dog…hmm…I think that would be perro." You look at a dog and think "Perro." Plus, it helps you with accents, and there’s no pressure because you pace yourself.
For more learned students (those who already have a foundation), I would recommend programs by Berlitz and Barron’s.
Pimsleur is terrible – their programs use "parrot" techniques that try to get you to repeat simple phrases. Living Language is not outstanding, either.
I am a Student Advisor at Spanish Abroad, Inc. and know Rosetta Stone well. IT is a great program for what it can provide on the computer. We arrange Spanish immersion programs which we feel are the best way to learn the language as it is the same fashion that anyone learns their native language.
Basically you take formal Spanish classes in the morning and then can practice with your host family or locals at other times.

all i can say!
This year alone they are expected to spend over $100 million in advertising (publicly traded company, look it up on yahoo biz), you have to hope that they can do a good job marketing their product. I’ll ask you this: if you are a beginner why would you choose a flashcard based method like Rosetta Stone??? I suspect you want to be able to actually speak and understand, right? Like other flashcard methods, Rosetta Stone focuses on building your vocabulary knowledge. However if you do not have a foundation to build that vocabulary on, it’s really a pointless exercise. Once, you have learned the basics of the language and how to put phrases together, a flashcard method like Rosetta or BYKI is a fine choice but as a true beginner that’s a rather expensive error. Knowing many words, does not mean you can SPEAK a language. I think Pimsleur is a much better method for a beginner. It’s an all audio conversational method. It will train your ears to understand natives (an essential part of early learning that is often overlooked by other methods), help you develop very good pronunciation and acquire the core structures and grammar. I find that it’s a real confidence builder for students as well. It’s also almost half the price of Rosetta Stone and has a much longer & proven history than RS. Good luck
I think the best Fluenz Spanish 1+2 Learning Software .The Fluenz approach provides a very logical and interactive method of building language skills. I debated on buying this product or Rosetta Stone, but after reading numerous reviews decided to go with Fluenz. I think it was the right decision… http://www.keeplookingbusy.com/itemDetails.aspx?id=B0010YBZ1I
