What is the easiest language to learn for someone who already knows Spanish?
My native language is English, but I've learned (but still have quite a bit to go before I'm completely fluent) Spanish. I'm curious as to which language is easiest for someone who has already learned Spanish to learn.
Catalan, Italian, Portuguese?

Definitivamente es el italiano. Yo estudio Italiano (hablo español) y para mi es muy fácil identificar las palabras italianas con su pronunciación y el léxico es bastante similar.
Italian! It is so similar to spanish… and how cool will it be to be able to say you can speak italian?
I know that Italian is quite easy if you know Spanish
Spanish derives from Latin, so Portuguese and Italian would be easier for you.
The three are all pretty similar to Spanish. However, Italian is probably the most similar. Catalan has similar grammar, but difficult pronunciation and often very different vocabulary. Portuguese has some complex grammatical differences, but mostly easy pronunciation and similar vocab. That said, Italian is not THAT much easier than the other two. And consider this:
Italian has 62 million speakers, Catalan has 15 million, and Portuguese has 193 million, or 2.5 times as many as the other two combined. Additionally, the output of films and literature in Catalan and Italian can’t even compare to that of Portuguese. So, unless you plan on living in Italy or Catalonia, I suggest you learn Portuguese, even if it is slightly more difficult than Italian.
Italian is closer phonetically
Portuguese is closer in terms of vocabulary
Esperanto, even if you don’t know spanish. I’ve heard one spanish esperanto-fan say that to communicate with esperantists, you need 600 words, and if you iknow spanish, you already know 450 of them.
According to the Foreign Service Institute and others, learning esperanto takes one fourth of the time it takes to learn any of the modern languages (french. spanish, italian, german, norwegian).
A nice side-effect is that knowing it makes people more likely to start learning even more languages, and do so faster.

Probably Italian because Spanish originated from Italian so they share a lot of the same words. Or French which share a lot of the same grammar with Italian and Spanish. So I would say Italian or French which ever one interests you more, I would go with French cause I wanna visit France.
It’s funny, most people do not mention Catalan in their replies because they have no idea of what Catalan is.
From the grammatical point of view, the closest language to Spanish is Portuguese, but pronunciation of Portuguese is very difficult for Spaniards. Catalan pronunciation is also hard and it is true that Italian one is the easiest.
In terms of vocabulary, Portuguese; Catalan is easy for someone who speaks French and betweeen Spanish and Italian there are a lot of "false friends".
Definitely italian, however you have to choose which language will make more sense for you in the future – as far as italian can be used "only" in Italy and portuguese on the other hand is spoken by many more people – not only Brazil and Portugal
italiano.. nunca estudie italiano pero cuando hablan los puedo entender
french italian or portuguese.
