Why not take a class? If you can learn easily from books. Than go for it but if your going to have questions you most likely won't get your questions answered if theyre not in the book.

2 easy points: Plz answer when you get the chance=) its rly important!

with english being your first language, it is not possible to learn it from a book. the sounds are way too different from american to learn it just from reading it, and the conjugating is also too complicated to just learn it from a book, though a book does help

school is great to learn grammar from but in the meantime, you can look on youtube for some spanish lessons

edit: and if you have DVD's at home with spanish as a second audio track, watch the DVD's in spanish. youd be surprised how helpful it is. your subconsious learns much quicker and effectively than your consous

You can learn spanish from a book, but it will take some hard work and a lot of time. The best way to learn would be to immerse yourself in the language by visiting a spanish speaking country for some time. I took four years of spanish, but found that I that I really learned the language after spending a good amount of time in Costa Rica. Here is my advice, get a good base knowledge of the language through your book, and then spend some time in a spanish speaking country to really learn the language and practice its practical use. Good Luck!

There are loads of ways to learn spanish... the best way is to immerse yourself. Either in a country that speaks the language, or by surrounding yourself with as much of the language as possible, for example listening to Spanish music, watching Spanish tv and movies, making friends that speak Spanish, and learning the grammar through periodic studying of books or audio lessons.

Lots of free tips and advice at http://www.liveandlearnlanguages.com/spanish.html

Do you have an ipod, there you will read about ways to get free podcasts in Spanish and free lessons, etc.

All the best!
