Learn to Speak and Understand Spanish
I heard lots of good and a few bad things about Rosetta Stone (which is 9 for level 1 & 2), and eLanguage claims to be better ().
What language learning tools have you used? Is Rosetta Stone worth the cost? Are there any other programs you recommend?

The only language program I have used is onlingo for italian. It was very easy to use.
i would recommend the software called before you know it!
Rosetta stone uses pictures that you click, almost like multiple choice. You learn by audio, and by reading, and by typing the words – and you can even speak into a microphone and it grades your pronunciation.
It does not use any english at all, but you don’t notice it. The pictures are what help makes you learn the words and meanings.
You will still need to study vocabulary and grammar from some basic books though. The program is not very strong with the grammar.
I would try to find it used somewhere if you can.
A cheap one I used that worked really well was Spanish in 10 minutes a day. I don’t really remember what it was called exactly but it was really easy and effetive. I learned a lot in just a short time. It’s 18.95.

Another one I’m using right now for more advanced Spanish stuff is Destinos which is like a soap opera type thing with a workbook and lesson book and cassettes and everything. It’s more time consuming but makes you a lot better at speaking and understanding. You can get it on DVD but its usually used in classrooms so its kind of expensive.
My family has used Rosetta Stone for French, Spanish, and Modern Greek. It is an excellent program with a lot of options, great for different learning styles. Of course the price is a drawback, but if you are serious about leaning the language then it is worth it in my opinion.
