What is a best way to learn a language? Spanish? I have basic understanding.?
I have found a teacher, when I asked how the course would be they said, we will pick a topic and have a good conversation.
The only problem is I CANNOT have a conversation in Spanish. I don't know enough to form my sentences on my own. I could understand most of what the teacher says if they spoke very slowly.
What do I do? I understand best when reading spanish, as talking to friends on an instant messaging service such as AIM, they will talk in spanish and i can respond back in english. if that gives a more accurate estimation of my knowledge of the spanish language.
how should i be learning?

Well the easiest way to learn a language is of course to go and live in the country where the language is spoken. Even if you don’t plan on learning the foreign language there, you normally just naturally pick up the language because you become so accustomed to it. Thats the easiest, but a lot of people don’t do it that way.
Rosetta Stone I would recommend. Personally its far too expensive in my view and would recommend language lessons more with a tutor if possible as they can explain things if you are confused. Also try:
http://www.livemocha.com/
Its like Rosetta Stone but free and you can learn other languages as well.
Try to go on Spanish news websites as well, OK you probably won’t understand much but your mind becomes tuned to Spanish making it easier for you to learn it. Even if you have films which you can listen to in Spanish, do it. Just remember to put the subtitles on though. These methods help tune you ears to Spanish and make it easier to learn it (or so my Spanish teacher always said) Spanish music even. A little bit of Shakira or Enrique Inglesias in Spanish is good
Learning your first foreign language I think is always the hardest and the longest. I’ve been learning Spanish now for 4 years for a few times a week and I’m gradually becoming fluent and I understand the grammar, verbs and tenses now. I think I need to go to Spain for instance now and practice to perfect it. Luckily for you also, Spanish is one of the easy languages I think, its a good language to know also. A lot of hard work is needed to learn a language thats why a lot of people crave to learn a language and are always impressed when they see someone can speak a foreign language because in a way its a talent not a skill. But with effort and belief you can gradually learn it. Good luck!

Rosaletta Stone i guess.. you can google it..
i did half the work you can do the other half! yay
No, NOT Rosetta Stone.
They are NOT good.
They only have very basic picture/word association exercises, ‘The boy and the ball’, ‘the ball and the house’, ‘the house and the boy’, stuff like that. NOT effective.
A much better deal for your $$$: TELL ME MORE.
TELL ME MORE offers 2,000 hours of learning vs. on ly 60 hours with Rosetta.
They are definitely the best way to learn Spanish. (Or any language, really.)
Remember: TELL ME MORE.
You won’t be sorry. : )
