Wacthing a Spanish film to help learn the language.?
Hello, I am currently learning Spanish and think it would be a good idea to watch a Spanish film to help me.
I have many DVD's which I can watch in Spanish but just wondered if was best to watch a film I have already seen in English and I know the story or a different one.
Also should I watch in English Subtitles or not?

I would say that if you can try it with the Spanish subtitles, it helps your mind stay in the "flow" of Spanish so that you pick up the greatest amount of vocuabulary/phrases from the film.
I’d also say that it’d be a good idea to buy some "Spanish" films so you can get an idea on Spanish culture – Pedro Almodóvar’s films are a great place to start (Women on the Verge of a nervous breakdown and All about my mother being excellent ones!)
I guess it would help if you have already seen it but I don’t think it really matters. You should first watch it without subtitles then you should watch it again with subtitles on.
Spanish is spoken the same way it is written, so maybe watching subtitles you can understand better the film…Try it with Spanish subtitles!
It’s a good idea to do that. If your level isn’t very good or start watching without subtitles and you don’t understand most of what they say, then use subtitles, they’ll help you understand.
The best result you will get by watching films in Spanish with English subtitles! I have learned a lot by doing that.
Good luck!
With Spanish subtitles, that is what I did with English.
