I ask this mainly because I don't know if it's better to learn another language in the same category (romance languages) or to learn a germanic one since i'm still learning Spanish?

I am told by almost all of my professors that being able to speak a foreign language, especially Spanish in some areas, will help put me above my competition. I was wondering if anybody has any experience with this issue and if this is true or not before I pay money to learn Spanish. Thanks in advance!

-& would the average Catalonian be able to communicate with anyone speaking reg. Spanish and vice versa, or would they not understand them?
-would it be beneficial if one were to know a bit of Catalan for dealing with the locals more efficiently or is there no need for it.. like how long would it take to learn basic Catalan for someone who already knows a fair amount of Spanish?

I would like to learn Spanish for my college degree. To facilitate getting my degree and not have to take (and pay for) classes, my professor informed me that I could study and take a pass / fail test when I'm ready. If I pass, I will earn college credits needed for my degree without any class time and without paying for however many classes; rather, just the exam. My money is very limited so buying programs like Rosetta Stone is impossible at this time. Are there free resources or very low cost ones that someone could refer to me so I can learn how to listen / understand, write and speak Spanish?

I'm fluent in Spanish thanks to my parents and since it's my first language. I'm fluent in English as well since it's my second language which I learned at a young age from school, friends, etc. I only speak spanish at home or when the moment calls for. I speak English to and with all my friends at work so it is my main language. Would it be easier for me to learn Spanish to Italian or English to Italian? I'm referring to txt books and such. Okay, so i'm a beginnner in Spanish. I take classes at school and all. I got a B- on my last exam, and i think i failed my most recent one too. I want to get a A in this class, but i'm just not interested. its been like a month into school, and i know i can't switch classes. I REALLY want to take drama, but my mom FORCED me to take Spanish instead. Should i just suck it up, and study hard? Learn to like it? How can i learn spanish more easily? My spanish teacher moves WAY to fast, and i can't keep up. I feel like i can't keep up w/ the class, and i'll fall behind. How to learn Spanish easily? How can i like Spanish more? I would have to double up one year but if I did Spanish level 6 I would be bilingual by the time I graduate high school. Anyway, would I take the Spanish in college anyway or should I double up one year and do two spanish courses in one year? I'm only taking 3 electives during my high school year so I just get down to one electives and do spanish? Thanks!

For high school i need to take 2 years of Foreign language to graduate, and the 2 Options i am considering are Spanish and Japanese. I would choose Spanish because i hear it is very easy to learn, BUT i dont really want to know spanish so its only for an Easy A. On the other hand Japanese may be Alot more fun to learn because it is a very interesting Language to me, BUT im concerned about the Difficulty of it. So anyways How difficult is Japanese to really learn in relation to Spanish?

I already know the Lord's Prayer in Spanish, and que la paz sea contigo, but what other phrases should I know that are common?

Like in English there is a section where the priest lists several things to pray for, and in English we say "Lord hear our prayer". I don't know that in Spanish.
