I have a Spanish language interview in mp3 format that I need to be transcribed to a document. Do you know of a program (hopefully freeware) that would let me load an audio file and export a document,
Oh and it needs to be for OS X.
I'd like to take a proficiency test (and be certified) for the spanish language - but id like it to be internationally recognized. Does this exist? Has anyone done this? Thanks!
People keep saying over and over that spanish is a mega easy language to learn, so please explain to me the following:
The british football player David Beckham played in Real Madrid from Spain for 4 years, and he never mastered the language!!
Please don't say that football players aren't supposed to learn the language of the country where they are playing in... that's ridiculous and ignorant. Many south americans play in european leagues, and most of them mastered the language of the country where they played... for instance, roque santa cruz and Nelson Valdez from Paraguay went to the league fo Germany and they both learned german. Juan pablo angel from colombia went to the english premier league, and he learned english. Javier Zanneti from Argentina and Ivan Cordoba from Colombia, went to italian league, and they both learned the italian language.... man, i would never finish if i mention every south american player who went to any european league and learned the local language... However, I can't think of any football players from the U.S., Germany , England, etc. who learned the spanish language, despite the fact that many players from these nationalities play in the spanish league.
Judith, your answer is pathetic, there are many south american players in Germany, and a great percentage of them speak good german.... and german is a hard language for south americans. Any football player is supposed to learn the language of the country where they are playing.
u think spanish is easy? allow me to check your spanish skills.
I have been looking for some good Spanish language internet radio streams or video streams since i've been wanting to find something better to watch than Univision when I want to listen to something in Spanish instead of English.
Also, I am in the process of learning French and it's a beautiful language that i'm really interested. I think it would help in learning it if I were to listen to some internet radio or video streams. So, if anyone knows of any good French ones, those would be great as well.
Thank you
To 'Tricky': I obviously know english or else I couldn't have even written this question. So, your statement there does not apply. Just because someone is in America does not mean that they have to completely throw away the rest of their heritage. I know English, I predominately speak English, English is in no way a problem for me. HOWEVER, I do still want to keep in touch with hispanic media and the Spanish language.
So, if you could please take your ignorance elsewhere, that would be appreciated.
So, I'm south american, and I was thinking about learning a foreign language, so I went to google to find out what's an easy language to learn.... well, to my surprise, a lot of people say that spanish is an easy language to learn. I understand an italian or portuguese saying that spanish is easy, since all romance language are quiete similar, specially those 3 languages.... however, I don't understand how can person who doesn't speak any romance language, claim that spanish is an easy language to learn???/ if that was true, why americans complain so much about the idea of learning spanish in school? why I don't see any english or german singers learning the spanish language in order to conquer the latin american market? I mean, if spanish is sooo easy to learn, it would make sense for an artist to learn spanish in order to conquer a market of 25 countries and 300 million people.
I'm American, and I personally know at least 5 people who've studied abroad in your country; it's an extremely popular destination!
I understand that many of them studied Spanish language in high school or college, and that's what makes it so interesting, but why Spain (instead of say, Mexico)?
Hi,

The language situation in the Philippines is an atrocity!
The Philippines was a Spanish colony for 350 years. It was an American colony for only 48 years.
Yet, in the Philippines, English is a mandatory subject since the 1st grade while Spanish is barely available as a high school ELECTIVE.
The Philippines should have much stronger ties with the Spanish language than with the English language.
Spanish was the first official language of the Philippines. It was the primary language used in education, and it made Filipinos the most educated people in Asia. The current national anthem of the Philippines was originally written in Spanish; it was later translated into the local vernacular, Tagalog. The first two constitutions of the Philippines were written in Spanish. Basically ALL of Philippine literature before the 1940s was written in Spanish. Spanish was the primary language of the Philippines for most of its history. Hispanic culture is a huge part of philippine culture. Native Philippine languages have thousands of Spanish loanwords. The Spanish language can well be considered the national language of the Philippines.
Yet, Filipinos decide to learn English!! A language that has been proven to be harder for them to learn than Spanish. English, an exogenous language that barely has historical ties to the country.
The Philippines is the 'odd one out' among coutries with English as an official language. It is the only country with official English despite never having been a British colony.
I think its time for Filipinos to start learning SPANISH. To learn more about their OWN culture.
(Please don't be English biased when answering this question just because it's written in English)

Spanish Language is the second most spoken in USA!
Especially in the South West!
so,... On regular basis, I hear on and on, Gringos (Anglos), saying:
" Oh" " I wish I can speak Spanish"
but do they try?
I doubt it!

II'd like to be my own teacher now, and i have time cuz its summer, so if you know of any good books (or anything for that matter) that teach the Spanish language in a clear way i'd love to know.
Hi, I am from the Republic Dominican and I have moved to the United States.
I speak the Spanish but not the English much so that mean that I can relating more to other people whom speak the Spanish language but I resemble the Black people of the United States more so most other people whom speak the Spanish language do not think I am of the Hispanic heritage so I have difficult fitting in with these group of people. And when the Black people of the United States talking to me, they knows that I am very different from them.
Where am I fit in at?
Thank you very much.
I've encountered many posts and articles on the internet that mention Spanish, all written in American websites.
Why do Americans learn the Spanish language?
What makes you think I'm offended, Gwendoly?
I'm just curious. Many of you say that Spanish is spoken by a big population in the US. That answers my question.
Thank you all.
I'm a Spanish speaking American. I live in California and almost everyone speaks Spanish. So many Spanish speaking people in this country already. Why do so many Americans have against the Spanish language? Wouldn't it benefit everyone if it became official?
Iam a junior in high school and was planning to self-study AP Spanish language. I can speak and read in spanish, I do so at home; I just can't write using accents. I am Mexican, so I was wondering what kind of Spanish is used on the AP Exam (Castillian/Latin American/etc.). What would be good self-study resources and how can I remember accents easier (I don't know how to write with accents)
Hello all,
I am taking AP Spanish Language 4 this year, and wanted to get an idea of how hard it is. I am not a native speaker, but have received an "A" semester in Spanish 1-3. I am confident with reading and writing/grammar, but not as much with speaking. Based off of this, how hard do you think the course and AP test will be?
Thanks!
I've been wondering which language of these should I choose ! I love the way Spanish sound , but I feel that it's so hard to learn . German is good because of Germany only !! Germany has a strong economy , thereby it would be great to learn German . However , I've learnt German for 2 years now , and I went to Germany last Summer to study the language , but I didn't like it so much , mainly because of its genders !! :S
However , I have the basics of German and can proceed learning it .
I've bought a Spanish language teaching book recently , and it's great , but I still have many problems with it due to the different way of reading in Spanish than it in English !!
And I felt remorse to buy a Spanish book and not a German one !! So, I'm still not sure which one is better for me , or which one is more useful .
Another thing is that : are Spanish-speakers good ???!!
I want to learn another language. English is my first language and I have a decent grasp of the Spanish language. I know a little bit of Italian from elementary school. I plan on using Rosetta stone to learn a language. Should I go with Italian because it is so close to Spanish and I already know a bit of Italian. (very basic, mostly food, animals, and colors) I think Arabic Farsi and Chinese would be more useful than Italian, but they have a different alphabet which doesn't appeal to me.
I would like to learn the spanish language

My dad has to learn spanish for an upcoming test to become a border patrol agent and he is wondering what the easiest way to learn it is. The test is around December 1st and he has no experience with learning the spanish language. Any ideas???

It is really great.. i would like to add another language to my knowledge, but I don’t know what to choose. I don’t even know what to consider when I choose a language to learn. I could not find any center close to my home for languages, so I need ur help to know the following: what is the language that is widely taught online. I found that I can easily pass the beginner level in Spanish language by learning it online. Pls, tell me what language you chose to learn? Why did u choose it? is it easy to learn online? How much time you spend daily to learn it?,, I really have the desire to learn.. I wanna learn a useful language that can broaden my knowledge. I got many advices like learning Chinese coz it is gonna be the international language, but I think it sounds extremely hard to learn. i thought about German, french, Turkish, Icelandic, Italian, and Korean, but I still don’t know what choose… I wish if u can help me to make a choice, I will truly appreciate it
Thanks in Advance =)
I'm in 8th grade, and 13. I have Spanish blood in me, and want to learn the language of which my ancestor's spoke. These Spanish classes don't help too much(in school). So I wonder how could I learn the Spanish language? I would like to do so by, say the end of Freshman year.
I want to learn Spanish but sitting at home and self learning does not work for me. Can someone suggets some schools/classes for adults whereby I can ineract and learn Spanish Language in the bay area in CA
I am 20 yrs. old and pretty much as white as you can get lol, but I am more or less fluent in the spanish language.
Knowing the grammar rules, how the language flows, etc. of the spanish language, how hard would it be to learn Italian? I have always just loved the Italian language and culture, and even listening to Andrea Bocelli songs in Italian, I often find myself understanding a lot of what he is singing.
So exactly how similar is Spanish to Italian? Which parts are similar? What are the main similarities/differences between the two languages?
thanks
No N- um do people's races and ethnicities have to do with the language they speak? usually yes... and if you don't realize that, obviously you are the "freak".
my point was, I am white, not hispanic, yet I am fluent in Spanish.
