They can't even understand it most of the time either.
No they aren't mentally deficient, my friends from high school all went to colleges like UC Berkeley and UCLA, got A's in their French/Spanish classes, and can't speak either.
I really want to learn spanish and ive been taking spanish classes freshman - junior year in high school (im a junior now) and i have learned quite a bit but its not enough to have an actual conversation with someone. do you think it is a good idea to go to mexico this summer (around 3 months) with family or though a foreighn exchange program so i can learn the language better?? any other ideas??
I would like to study abroad next spring in a Spanish-speaking country to help me become more fluent. In the fall I will be starting in the 300-level university Spanish classes, which puts me at an intermediate to advanced level. I want to make sure I choose a country that doesn't have too strong of an accent so they will be able to understand me and vice-versa. I have been thinking about Spain, Argentina or Chile so far. Any suggestions? Thanks!
I will have a bachelors in Information Systems as well as a second major in Middle East Studies/Arabic. I've already taken Spanish classes through the 400s and into the 5s. I need to choose between a minor in Spanish or a minor in Latin American Studies... I've taken all of the classes to have both but you cannot have two minors from the same department at my school. So, what would look better on a resume?
My spanish classes at my high school are not helping me at all, and I have a big final test tuesday and I don't know barely anything.
I learned like "no quiero ir al banco" etc etc, but that was from this virtual spanish program and in order to get the rest I have to pay a lot for it.
So technically the solution for my problem has to be FREE.
I have a friend who speaks spanish and even so I'm hopeless
I can't figure out the language or remember any of it!
I've just been doing the homework and then forgetting it later. >_<

Since my senior year schedule is completely full, I can't take any more Spanish classes. Although I'm Mexican-American and hear and speak Spanish often, I need refinement of the language. Also, I've taken Spanish III Honors at school.
Also, does anyone know of any free online courses for AP Spanish Language? I could do that as well.
What textbooks, study aids, vocabulary flashcards, and overall things I can do or purchase to get a 5 on the test? I really don't want to take introductory Spanish in college when I know all of that.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Muchas gracias
is it hard to learn?
is it possible to become fluent through spanish classes at school
And how long did it take? I've been taking Spanish classes since the 6th grade (I'm now in 10th) and I know verryyy LITTLE Espanol. I have a few Honduran, Dominican, El Salvadoran, and Guatamalen friends at school but we don't speak in Spanish when we're around each other. It's kinda crazy because half of my family's Cuban, I just never known how to speak the language. Any suggestions?
I took several Spanish classes in college.
I got pronunciation down and a good bit of grammar understandings.
I have a hard time thinking quickly enough to process Spanish words --> English words --> meaning.
I have to plan out individual Spanish sentences before I say them. If somebody talks slowly enough in Spanish I can understand them after a few tries.
I learn new words rather quickly. I learn ~ 25-40 new Spanish words a day.
Basically need to immerse myself. I am in college though. I want to be as close to fluent as possible before I start medical school in 6 Months.
I was thinking (since I watch a lot of TV) I could just get the TV shows dubbed to Spanish with English subtitles, but I can't figure out how to do that.
Any other suggestions? I try to listen to Spanish music when I am walking around campus. It's hard to find actual recordings of talk shows in Spanish. Even with that, I think it would be hard for me to apply it without actually being able to quickly figure out what is said (IE with Spanish TV show dubbed with English subtitles).
Any suggestions?
I am considering the following locations. Madrid, Barcelona and Granada. Barcelona is the cheapest place for me to study and Madrid the most expensive. I understand though that in Barcelona the primary language is not Spanish, however I will be taking Spanish classes. I'm really not sure where to go and I would love insight from anyone who has studied abroad in one of these cities and what program you did it with. In addition does anyone have anything to say about Global Student Experiences?
I think I might ask for this for my birthday because I would love to learn another language. I took spanish classes in school but it wasn't very effective.
So my question is: is it really as good as it claims to be? I know a lot of top companies use it and apparently it's supposed to be excellent.
Also: When you buy it, are there multiple languages in the software you can choose from to learn? Or do you have to buy a single language at a time?
spanish is my major. i want to teach it, but i don't feel that i am getting enough out of my spanish classes at my junior college and next semmester i transfer to my four year college and i am really worried that i am not ready for it! i am doing some online spanish programs and i watch at least 30 minutes of spanish tv shows a day.
I'm looking for a college or university that does online spanish classes. I dont have time to go to a community college, and would rather just study at home, but I would also like to receive college credit. Any suggestions?
I just received my placements; I am in honors English and Spanish classes. Spanish is my 2nd language, and I speak English natively. Grammar is my strongest point, but I do not know what to expect for the honors English or Spanish classes.
I'm thinking of taking it next year. What is the best way to study for it? (besides taking spanish classes)
My friend and I (mid 20's) want to go to a reasonably cost-effective, SAFE, and fun place to learn Spanish this summer. We want to take Spanish classes and interact with friendly locals.
Any suggestions? We will be going April - mid June. So, let me know about the weather as well please.
Thanks!
I think I will want to take Spanish classes in college, so looking ahead at potential colleges, I would like to just identify some good, possible colleges that have good language programs. I am planning on taking Spanish all four years in high school (culminating in AP Spanish my senior year) if that makes any difference. Gracias!
I've taken a few Spanish classes, in HS and in college, but I think that if I were to talk reguarly with someone, it'd be easier to learn. Are there sites set up that I could use? How else can I meet someone?
i've taken five years worth of spanish classes; four of which were in high school. currently i am a college student in wisconsin and feel as if though i have completely forgotten how to speak spanish. i want to become much more fluent in the language and am curious what you've heard about the software other than what's on the commercials?
Don't worry, I do not just suddenly want to get good at Spanish. I have been taking Spanish for 5 years and have taken 2 Spanish college classes. I have always gotten in A in my Spanish classes, and one time I got the best grade in the school. I have taken all of the Spanish classes that are available and I am afraid I will forget what I have been taught unless I find someone that I can talk Spanish with. Is there anyone who would like to help me???
I'm in 8th grade, and 13. I have Spanish blood in me, and want to learn the language of which my ancestor's spoke. These Spanish classes don't help too much(in school). So I wonder how could I learn the Spanish language? I would like to do so by, say the end of Freshman year.
I'm looking to learn spanish in less than a month and im wondering if there are any free programs or any strategies to learn. If not what is the best program to learn spanish in a system such as Rosetta Stone. P.S. spanish classes at school suck.
I am looking to take some spanish classes in Tulum, this December, or possibly November if I can't make Dec work. The only place I know of is www.thepinkiguana.mx and I guess they are all booked up now. Does anyone know of any other places that offer classes and mabye homestays as well?
My friend is coming back from college for the summer and she is taking lots of Spanish classes and talking in Spanish all the time. So I thought it would be fun if I could say "Welcome Home" to her when she comes back. How would I say this? I saw some other similar questions on here but how do you pronounce what I'm supposed to say?
I have taken Spanish classes in high school and in college. I know the basics, meaning I know quite a few words and could get by if I HAD to. My new years resolution is to become completely fluent. I plan on going to Argentina to visit my best friend (she had to move back because the government won't let her get her citizenship unless she moves back for a few years and then returns. Crazy and ridiculous, I know). Anyways, so I would like to be able to be fluent, be able to understand speech, and be able to speak it easily. What would be the best way to do this? Like I said, I know a lot of the basics and I don't really want to re-start at the beginning. I also don't have a lot of money either. Please don't suggest classes, because they either move too fast or too slow for me. Other than that, any tips appreciated, thanks!
They said it works off fat calories twice as fast as diet and exercise through brain messages and contractions... something like that. It sounds silly thought and I'm not sure if I should start taking Spanish classes just yet. A lot of Spanish people are skinny, and I'm 414 pounds and really need to get toned up and decrease my sexy curves for the summer!
Does anyone know of any websites, pod-casts, or some kind of audio-book/software instruction that can help me learn the Spanish language?
Please don't suggest Rosetta Stone. That costs hundred upon hundreds of dollars. I'm looking to not spend any money at all if possible.
I am currently in a Spanish 101 class. I'm "somewhat" understanding it and I will pass the class, but I want an A and I'm not going to get an A if I don't get some help soon. I need to take three more Spanish classes after this one and at this point I'm stressing out about it because I'm going to be so far behind if I don't do something about my situation soon.

I'm currently in the process of learning Spanish. I learned a bit of Spanish in high school...then I promptly forgot. Now I'm going through multiple Spanish classes in college and things are coming back to me, but I really don't want to forgot how to speak Spanish again. I'd also like to reach some level of fluency.
How do I keep from forgetting the language? I don't have any friends who regularly speak Spanish, so that's not an option.
