Im honduran. About 95 percent of my family including my parents both speak english and spanish... I grew up not really speaking spanish. When I was little my mom tried teaching me but when I would go to school It seemed like I would get confused between the two languages english and spanish. So Teachers told my mom that I had a speech problem. So long story short in order to prevent problems in the future for me My parents just taught me english, never to really learn spanish again.

I am 20 years old now. If I hear a spanish person talking or when my parents talk in spanish I pretty much know exactly what they are saying. Most times I can repeat back in english word from word what I just heard in spanish. & Sometimes I get confused or thrown of by a certain word but I'm always on point as far as what the topic was regarding. So I'm not dumbfounded at all as far as spanish is concerned. BUT the problem comes when I have to speak back! I get tongue tied, I have to double think how to conjugate this word or that one. If I want to know what something means in spanish i have to ask or look it up. When 9 times out of the 10 i heard the word million of times before... FUNNY THING IS, I can read and write spanish(writing is not soo so perfect) but everything in spanish i perform so well in except speaking it. I guess its because i started learning through hearing and years ago when i got serious about it I started reading it. Then in highschool i took a spanish class for about three years where i learned more and also wrote in spanish...... I tried getting my parents to help, but sometimes my mom is impatient when i ask what this and that means. And she talks spanish to me because its something we are so use to doing. My Dad never speaks spanish, even in Honduras. Because he grew up on an Island where they only spoke english, and just recently he started speaking spanish often because of where he works but i think he prefers english better..... So right now its only me teaching myself, my only sources that I have is hearing others when they speak and an online translator. So I was wondering what can I do, to perfect at it speaking wise?? Thank You

i'm really interested in languages, but i'm 17 and i can only really speak English fluently. i've been learning Spanish since grade 9, but the high school spanish class hasn't helped my fluency at all.
along with spanish i want to learn French, Italian, and Portuguese (all Romance languages so it won't be as difficult if i master spanish first)....but do you think it's possible, even though i am no longer at that stage where language comes easily?

i need spanish sentences for my spanish class for a project that describes my morning method including stuff like reflexive verbs and first verb sentances and second verb sentences

thanks

I'm forced to take a spanish class at my community college in order to have credit for a 4 year college later one.
But I hate the language, it's so....bleh. French and Italian have at least some style and a romantic touch to them, but spanish is dull and way too close to the language english. Although the class will be somewhat easy not simple as heck but yeah, I'm afraid I'll get so bored of it. I won't have any use for it later but my community college doesn't offer anything else other than japanese and that is too difficult for me.
What can I do to force myself to actually semi-like the language? I just...idk I hate it. I took one in high school and I hated it! No offense, but things I've learned about mexico is not that interesting and that is ALL my spanish teacher based the lessons on. The holidays were ok to learn, but overall I did not like it.
I love places that had amazing history or stories and such, like Egypt or Greece had for example. If there was something related to spanish that can help me actually want to learn the language, I'll learn it. But if not, I'm gonna have to find a totally different community college D: <

Pleaseeeeeeeee don't be annoying and call me a racist, idk how you can though but people have a skill to blame you for anything anywhere anytime, I just don't like the language, but I need something that will make me WANT to actually learn it. Anything?!

I was wondering would i be able to actually be fluent in spanish? whats the best way to learn another language? any suggestions? I am irish so i dont live with people who speak spanish
i dont have room in my hs schedule for spanish class because i am going to tech to learn how to fly half the day.. I want to learn spanish because wehn i get older i want to become an airline pilot and i am going to travel the world. I would love to live in a different country.

For spanish class I have to write about what i did in the holidays (2 weeks ago)
Should i be talking in preterite indefinido or imperfecto?

Or...maybe a combination.....?

because if i just breifly say what i did its indefinido and if i go on to talk about it, it is imperfecto, is that right....?

= s

For spanish class, I have to create an activity involving spanish vocabulary about cars to help my other classmates review for the final. Does anyone have an suggestions about fun worksheets or handouts that can be given to the class? Because I can't think of any.

Also we have done a lot of word searches and crosswords in the class already so a different activity would be great. Thanks!

My daughter needs it for her Spanish class.

I am hopefully getting a job at Best Buy (They just called me to come in for a third interview) and I speak Spanish pretty well. I am very good a learning languages but I unfortunately only know the vocab that they teach us at school in Spanish class.

What are some words/phrases that fluent speakers would use that I could use when talking to someone in Spanish if I get the job at Best Buy?

I don't have a problem studying on my own but at times I run into problems and find things confusing especially problems finding ways to study and help myself learn and remember things. I don't have the opportunity to attend a spanish class so if a teacher wouldn't mind helping me find the best ways to go about studying what I'm trying to study. Thanks!!!

I'm currently taking a Spanish class in school but I want to go beyond. I want to be able to speak it fluently. What are some good websites/TV shows/books etc. that could help me?

i take spanish class and i'm kinda good and kinda not!!HELP!!!!!

I know French pretty well and I'm starting Spanish class this semester at my college. I know they are both Romance Languages but would already knowing French really help me at all in learning Spanish?

Just leave suggestions..

Thanks!
PS: I would like something that challenges me.
I meant for school... what language should I choose to study after I finish spanish class...

Sorry.. I should of clarified.

I'm trying to learn how to speak spanish, I can read it, write it and understand it but I can't really speak it :/
I know anyone would say learning a new language would require practice by trying to speak it, but can anyone who has learned a new language out there come up with UNIQUE ways of learning a new language on your own? any tips? I don't really have anyone to speak it with, no one in my family speaks it and I feel spanish class at school doesn't teach you anything...

I need this for Spanish class since I was absent due to a long sickness.
VERY IMPORTANT! PLEASE ANSWER A.S.A.P.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am registering for high school classes, & now I want to change my Spanish class to French, but I'm not sure if it's a good or bad idea. I live in America (Illinois specific), if that helps. I don't know what I want to do in the future, but currently I participate in music & theatre activities, so maybe the language I learn can help with that.

I don't really want to get him to like me (I don't really like him like that) but I really, really want to get to know him. Probably because he's one of those cute guys that most people don't think are cute... and he's insanely quiet, which is strange for my Spanish class.

So how do I get him to talk to me? I promised my best friend I would talk to him by the time I turn 15, and that's in less than 1.5 weeks. =/

Any help would be appreciated... Oh, and I know his Spanish name (we all pick names that are Spanish during the first week of Spanish) and English name... so I do know at least something about him. ^.^
How do I talk**** Wow.. Sorry. =/ Can't believe I didn't catch that...

Im starting high school in a few weeks and i'm starting to wonder if I should change my spanish class to study hall. The way I see it is that I don't think that I will ever need to know spanish or will I ever use it..
So yahoo people which should I take?

I am taking a Conversational Spanish course in College. 75% of the class has already had a prior Spanish class. I feel so disadvantaged, and I wish the class would slow down! Any ideas?

**Please note that my Spanish class in learning Spanish as it is spoken in Mexico and the surrounding countries, not Spain. I know there are some differences. Thanks.

How would you write these sentences in Spanish?

"She was lost in the forest."
"The woman comforted her."
"The wild ox tried to fight."
"They named the dresses after her."
"Nobody knew they were going to get married."

Thank you so much! :)
Please no translators, like Google Translate.
@CutiePie21, I just said I didn't like translators... right up there ^

In my Spanish class, we had to write five sentences about things we used to do using imperfect tense. Are these correct?

Yo comía el tater tots.
Yo veia muchas peliculas.
Yo iba a la playa cada verano.
Yo tomaba clases de natación.
Yo leía mucho.

Thanks!

for Spanish class we have to make some kind of television show, but multiple group members left so now we only have 2 people....what can we record with just 2 people?

I have a presentation I need to do for my Spanish class and I need to talk about some interesting geography in any Spanish-speaking country (Mexico, Spain, El Salvador, etc.). I tried to google it, but it kind of talks about the mountains, etc. etc.

Is there anything REALLY interesting about any country's geography so I can make my presentation more interesting? Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I am taking a spanish class and learning very little. I go to mexico once a year on a cuise and would like to learn so I can communicate better not only in the country but also with my friends. Please help.

This is a spanish class that is basic so i need to think of something not embarrasing or retarded to bring in and talk about in basic spanish. I dont know too many words so letstry and keep it simple.

There is this kid in my spanish class and he always looks over at me. And noope it not just eye contact. Like he stares me down with a kind of ..sexy stare lol. And then when I look over, he looks down or looks away. Today me and him had a staring contest. Like I caught him lookin and we just looked at eachother for 4 seconds and both looks away at same time. LOL. Anyway, hes only senior in my class so hes quiet and so tht makes it hard to tlk to him just cuz hes quiet n such and i think hes SO cute. My best guy friend is in tht class and I'm texting him about how I dont have a homecoming date n i think tht kid in my spanish class is cute. He keeps saying tht "Hes in my weight lifting class too, I can talk to him" BUT i dont want the cute kid to think im a complete WACKO for thinking hes cute and for getting my guy friend to tlk to him for me. I'm a little shy with boys but I am pretty. Not trying to sound cocky but alot of guys n girls tell me im really pretty but what if he thinks im weird? I want a homecoming date and I think hes cute :) ))) Idc if I dont have a date, cuz I can go wit 1 my girlfriends, but its my junior year n this kid is soooo cute ;) <333 Somebody help on wat I should do!?

I'm hoping that by the time i'm done with high school i will be fluent in Spanish, but i don't really know if that will be the case or not. (I am taking Spanish for 4 years in HS.) I'm pretty good at it, better than the average Spanish class student in my school.
What was it like for you, how long did it take for you to become fluent in the language?

We are playing jeopardy in my Spanish class and we are reviewing the Spanish numbers in Spanish. I need to come up with some questions to go in the miscellaneous section. I need 5 of them. THANK YOU!!
