hello, I am a student currently enrolled as a sophomore in high school. I am puerto rican and currently learning the Spanish language. (didn't learn it as a child)

after I am finish with the Spanish language, I am planning to learn some of the Slavic languages; eg. Russian, Ukrainian, Polish etc. I am very good at learning languages, I started learning Spanish a year and I am almost completed with it. Do you think it would be very difficult for me to learn these languages? Do you think I should learn these languages?

Hi I would love to learn spanish, particuarly the spanish for puerto rican. I will be moving there soon and would love to be on a conversational level. Thanks.

Born- Puerto Rican

I never learnt spanish as my family moved our family over to England when i was seven and i REALLY want to learn spanish to feel more part of my hispanic culture, please help!

I'm expecting a baby in 7 months. My baby's father is Puerto Rican, but he doesn't know Spanish because his mother never spoke to him in Spanish while he was growing up. I plan to raise my baby to be bilingual, so I'm gonna speak to her/him in both spanish and english. Do you think I can become fluent in 7 months? If not it's not a big deal I guess. Both the baby and I could be learning spanish at the same time.

I am black male person (attend college) mixed with Antigan and Guyanese ( South America) and everytime I talk to a girl she is basically spanish (mostly Dominican or Puerto rican) . I love spanish women especially the ones with heavy accents . I don't know why I love spanish girls but sometimes my cousin labels me as a latina magnet is that a bad thing?

Okay so, a few of my really close guy friends and my boyfriends family are from Puerto Rico and moved to America around four years ago. Sometimes on facebook (yeah, i creep) I really want to know what they're saying when they talk to eachother in Spanish. The way it's translated on google translate makes absolutely no sense and tells me someof the things they are saying aren't words? Huh? Is there a difference between Puerto Rican spanish and the general spanish language?

My husband is puerto rican, and I have been trying to learn for awhile but nothing sticks with me. Are there any websites, or anything that can help me?

I'm dominican, and so is my boyfriend... I speak spanish but more spanglish since i grew up in spanish harlem. So I mostly speak english. Long story short my boyfriend got upset in bed once because I was not talking while we were doing it, I have mostly dated black guys and I dont know what dominican guys like to hear, I'm also not used to talking during sex. What do I say to him in spanish that will turn him on and make our sex more fun. I dont want say anything too dirty. What do dominican guys like to hear during bed? Or spanish guys in general at this point lol.

*I prefer answers from people who are puerto rican and dominican since south american slang differs greatly from caribean slang.*

ps. My boyfriend speaks perfect proper english but he does not understand slang or sexual english which is why im asking for help.

I am in the US Navy and witness something that offended me.I am Mex-American.This two Puerto Rican guys were talking in spanish in the ship and this Senior chief flipped out and chewed them out and was screaming saying don't speak that s*** here.He is a filipino and talks Tagalog most of the time with the other chiefs in front of other people who don't talk that language.I did some research but cant find anything.I don't have anything against filipinos but it really gets me mad because it seems they get exempt from these rules.

My son is 1 year old. We live in the United States. My first language is english. I believe the second most common language spoken in the U.S. is spanish ( the Puerto Rican dialect as well as the Mexican dialect), I want to know if you think my son should be given the opportunity to learn to speak spanish. Should I take an active part in encouraging the learning or stand by and see if he decides to pick it up on his own later in life with no encouragement?

I'm Puerto Rican and i don't know all the spanish i should know. I want to learn but i don't want to take a course at school. I don't want to learn grammar, i want to learn words i should know. I can pronounce words perfectly as i read them, i just don't know what i would be saying.
I'm a 17 yr old Puerto Rican and i cant speak spanish. I need a way to learn it. Is there any place online that i can learn it for free?

So during class these two Puerto Rican guys talk about me. Like I help them both with their science work. When I try to help one, who I end up helping the most, the other guy will ask for help as well. I try to help them both, but the first guy says something in spanish, but one word pops up the most. It's like "carrone" or something. They talk in Spanish a lot lol.

They pronounce it like "Cow-roan" but with an accent, you know? They say caliente sometimes as well.

Any ideas as to what these words might be or mean?

I'm English speaking and have a natural lisp that cannot be corrected without surgery. I only have problems with long "Sssss." I tried to learn Spanish in high school and found it hard, but everyone keeps telling me to try again that having a lisp will make it eaiser. By the way, my stepfather is Puerto Rican; what type of spanish should I learn to speak with him?

:) My boyfriend is Puerto Rican and speaks Spanish fluently, and when he gets mad at me he yells at me in Spanish. I want to suprise him one day and just bust out in Spanish and see his face!

I'm puerto rican. My padres don't speak much spanish. My abuelos thought it would be better if they didn't introduce them to spanish so that english would be their first language and life in America would be easier for them. I know simple phrases like; I'm hungry, How are you, When's your birthday?, etc. But....I want to be fluent. Any suggestions on how to learn spanish quickly and isn't expensive? I wanted the Rosetta Stone but the price is unbelieveable. Please help. Gracias. =)
