I have been wanting to learn Spanish for some time now, and would love to live in a Spanish country to do so. I am taking online classes also. So I guess my question for everybody would be what is the best way to live in a Spanish country while taking online classes. I would like to work also if that is possible to make money to live and such stuff like that so if anybody has any ideas that would be great. I am going for a sports degree so something in that category for a job is great.
Thanks

I would like to learn Spanish for my college degree. To facilitate getting my degree and not have to take (and pay for) classes, my professor informed me that I could study and take a pass / fail test when I'm ready. If I pass, I will earn college credits needed for my degree without any class time and without paying for however many classes; rather, just the exam. My money is very limited so buying programs like Rosetta Stone is impossible at this time. Are there free resources or very low cost ones that someone could refer to me so I can learn how to listen / understand, write and speak Spanish?

Thanks so much in advance for the assistance!
Thanks to all three of you who responded; I checked out all of the suggested sites and they were all great! Marcin - thanks especially for the many different options!

How can i learn how to speak spanish with in 5 months and that doesn't cost money, and if it does then under .00 and how do you say .00 in spanish.

I am looking to make some money on the side by tutoring Spanish. I'm a native speaker and a Spanish major. I'm just not sure what books would be good for beginning students.

thanks in advance

I want to study Spanish abroad but am a little tight on money. I was wondering if it was possible to get a source of income (getting a job) in Spain while studying Spanish. My current Spanish level is about beginner-intermediate, so it's nothing sufficient for a job that's fast pace in a totally Spanish environment. I would have to have very patient employers because my communication skills would not be so good while I'm starting out. I appreciate any answers especailly if it's from first-hand experience. Btw, if you've had experience, how did you go about the whole studying abroad thing? Did you go through a school or did you just go to the country and totally immersed yourself? How much did it cost you (including cost of living, plane ticket, tuition, etc)?
Thanks in advance :)

i want to learn Spanish but the websites say it cost money or i have to download things that i never heard of then im scared to download something because i don't want to get a virus on my computer. PLEASE HELP ME!!

If people who are bilingual have the potential for earning more money than those who are not, and if our communities are being saturated with non english speaking individuals (primarily hispanics), but we are unable to sell them anything because they do not speak or understand english, and if so many non-english speakers work in the workplace and are unable to provide adequate assistance because they are unable to speak or understand english, do you believe the government should provide non-english speakers with free english lessons, or english speakers with free spanish lessons, or neither, or both, and why?

I am a counselor and work for an outpatient mental health center in Georgia and would like to learn Spanish to better help our spanish-speaking consumers but my place of employment will not pay for any outside education and I can't not afford to pay for it myself. I know that other counselors in the center would also like to learn. Is there any program that gives money to help learn Spanish individually or in a group?

I have taken Spanish classes in high school and in college. I know the basics, meaning I know quite a few words and could get by if I HAD to. My new years resolution is to become completely fluent. I plan on going to Argentina to visit my best friend (she had to move back because the government won't let her get her citizenship unless she moves back for a few years and then returns. Crazy and ridiculous, I know). Anyways, so I would like to be able to be fluent, be able to understand speech, and be able to speak it easily. What would be the best way to do this? Like I said, I know a lot of the basics and I don't really want to re-start at the beginning. I also don't have a lot of money either. Please don't suggest classes, because they either move too fast or too slow for me. Other than that, any tips appreciated, thanks!

The tree asked the boy if he wanted to swing on its branches.
The boy said all he wanted was money
The tree said, I dont have any money but you can sell my apples

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you want to do business with another country, you should learn their language. (Chinese sell cheap crap to us, they know English) In the case of immigration, Mexicans are coming HERE to do business, so why are we being forced to learn their language? Wouldn't it make a lot more sense if we were forced to learn, lets say, Chinese? Hispanics provide cheap, dependable labor, and that's why we hire them. But really, aren't they taking advantage of us by making us learn their language? Spanish wouldn't be the best language to learn, in my opinion. There aren't nearly as many business opportunities for Americans in Spanish speaking countries then there are in Asia, and I really think we're wasting our time learning Spanish. Some of them have been in this country for YEARS and still can't speak fluent English. Why? Because we accommodate to them, and burn money on services to help them. When everyone came to Ellis Island, they were forced to learn English. Why is it different now?

This may seem over the top, but I think that some people don't want Hispanics to learn English because they wish for them to remain a permanent underclass. That way, they can keep hiring them to do work for 2 bucks an hour.
Yeah Obama would rather have us learn Spanish then them learn English. He actually did say this.

I would really love to learn the Spanish language...but unfortunately, I do not have the money right now to spend on expensive classes or language programs like rosetta stone.
I know it is somewhat of a long shot but I was hoping that maybe someone out there knows of a free spanish course that I could take online?

Thank you all so much!

God Bless!!

What is the best book or CD to get to help me learn spanish? Not looking to spend a bunch of money. Thanks!

I took 2 years of Spanish in high school, and I would like to learn to speak it fluently. I am fixing to graduate high school within the next semester, and I was not able to take another year of Spanish. I already understand basic vocabulary, but I would like to improve on it and really build communication skills. I know a bunch of basic spanish words, such as food items, but I'm really bad at communicating, such as only being able to say Hello, How are You, Where is the bathroom, and Goodbye! If I am going to put a lot of money down on a Spanish speaking software, I want to be able to purchase a high quality program that works well while traveling and will allow me to be able to fully communicate with people in Spanish. I have heard Rosetta Stone and Instant Immersion are not the best software to rely one. What would you recommend? I do plan on speaking Spanish in the future, especially in my career.

In California, it's required of high school students to learn a foreign language for two consecutive years, with the same language, to graduate. My choices are: Spanish, German, and French. One of good friends is taking German and she seems to really like it (plus it sounds cool too). But on the other hand, my mom says it would be beneficial to learn Spanish since I'll get more money later on in life if I decide to translate something (but i don't think I will get any more money because I'll probably drop the class as soon as I have my credits). French is last on my list just because it sounds like a hard language to grasp. So I'm looking for an easy to learn language that's fun to use, and one that I wouldn't mind doing the homework for. Any suggestions?

Does anyone know of any websites, pod-casts, or some kind of audio-book/software instruction that can help me learn the Spanish language?
Please don't suggest Rosetta Stone. That costs hundred upon hundreds of dollars. I'm looking to not spend any money at all if possible.
I am currently in a Spanish 101 class. I'm "somewhat" understanding it and I will pass the class, but I want an A and I'm not going to get an A if I don't get some help soon. I need to take three more Spanish classes after this one and at this point I'm stressing out about it because I'm going to be so far behind if I don't do something about my situation soon.

Is the Rosetta Stone series for Spanish worth the money? Thanks!

1. He knew that, although he did not win, the money was used to suppert education.

2. One day while he was waiting for the bus, he saw(preterite) an old woman selling lottery tickets in the street.

I am thinking about buying the Rosetta Stone Spanish software. I would like to know your experiences with the product and its effectiveness. I took two years of Spanish in high school and a semester in college, and am really interested in picking up Spanish again. I see the commercials of Rosetta Stone, and was just wondering if it was worth the money and how it works, etc.

Thanks for your help!

Compared to Physics, Engineering, Biology, and Math is Spanish still a good major to specialize in today? Do you get respect and earn good money? Are there lots of job opportunities? Is it considered taking the easy way out of hard majors?

Miguel tried to put his credit card into the ATM but the machine would not accept the card. After he tried putting the card in the machine several times, the machine eventually took it but when the ATM returned the card, the card was shreded to pieces and no money was given to Miguel.

Thanks.

I need to learn spanish fast and I have no money to spend to learn it. Please help.

I work at an organization that offers clothes, food and education assistance to those who need it. Probably 95% of people I deal with daily are spanish. I have a translator that stays with me, but often times I think it would be easier if I just knew a little spanish to help other people or to help myself when my translator is not with me. I don't want to spend a great deal of money on lessons or software to learn. So, any suggestions?

I am an 18 yr old girl who is very interested in learning languages, particularly Spanish. I've taken language classes before, at a high school level, but find that the traditional classroom approach to learning languages has not been effective for me; I have retained very little of the French and German that I studied.
Based on your own experience, which methods/programs were most effective for you when learning Spanish? And what study methods work best for you? I am willing to try Rosetta Stone, but the reviews I read were mixed; I'm not sure if its worth the investment. Is it worth the money, or are other programs better?
Thanks :)
