Im honduran. About 95 percent of my family including my parents both speak english and spanish... I grew up not really speaking spanish. When I was little my mom tried teaching me but when I would go to school It seemed like I would get confused between the two languages english and spanish. So Teachers told my mom that I had a speech problem. So long story short in order to prevent problems in the future for me My parents just taught me english, never to really learn spanish again.
I am 20 years old now. If I hear a spanish person talking or when my parents talk in spanish I pretty much know exactly what they are saying. Most times I can repeat back in english word from word what I just heard in spanish. & Sometimes I get confused or thrown of by a certain word but I'm always on point as far as what the topic was regarding. So I'm not dumbfounded at all as far as spanish is concerned. BUT the problem comes when I have to speak back! I get tongue tied, I have to double think how to conjugate this word or that one. If I want to know what something means in spanish i have to ask or look it up. When 9 times out of the 10 i heard the word million of times before... FUNNY THING IS, I can read and write spanish(writing is not soo so perfect) but everything in spanish i perform so well in except speaking it. I guess its because i started learning through hearing and years ago when i got serious about it I started reading it. Then in highschool i took a spanish class for about three years where i learned more and also wrote in spanish...... I tried getting my parents to help, but sometimes my mom is impatient when i ask what this and that means. And she talks spanish to me because its something we are so use to doing. My Dad never speaks spanish, even in Honduras. Because he grew up on an Island where they only spoke english, and just recently he started speaking spanish often because of where he works but i think he prefers english better..... So right now its only me teaching myself, my only sources that I have is hearing others when they speak and an online translator. So I was wondering what can I do, to perfect at it speaking wise?? Thank You
"Yesterday I called my mom. First, I had to go back to the hotel. Then I found the phone in my room. Next, I got connected to my mom. She was glad to hear from me. I told her that Guatemala is beautiful and I can't wait to see her. Before hanging up, she told me that she loves me."
My mom wants to learn English on the computer, but I can't find any free classes in Spanish on the internet. Does anybody know a website? and please, if you don't know any sites, please don't answer this question.
I am a 13 year old girl who wants to learn French and/or Italian. However my mom won't get me those learn-language things and the only language I can take at school is Spanish, and the teacher doesn't even know how to speak it. (I know, because some of my classmates speak fluent, proper Spanish and they have to correct her all the time). All I really have is Google Translate and everyone knows that NOTHING comes out right with that.
My mom wants to learn how to type on the computer but we cant find a website in Spanish. Please help!

What do you think?
Hey, so i got money for an early Christmas present and i was wondering if I should buy a Spanish learning CD. It's 40 dollars but according to my mom it's a pretty good company. it's something like Belkin, idk but it's something like that.
I don't have a lot of Spanish speaking friends but hey it wouldn't hurt to learn. I'm 16yo and I think it would be great to know a 2nd language. And i'm also home schooled so I have all the time in the world to learn.I only have 60 dollors so i would be left with 20.
Do you think this would be a smart investment or not?
thanks for your answers
i have dish network and my mom wants me to put spanish subtitles on the tv not just for movies but for regular shows. i used my regular remote to go to change the settings and i put the subtitles on cc1 and cc2 but it will only add english... what do i do?
Hi, I was born in Panama (fluent) and my mom is Panamanian (fluent, too). When we went out to El Jalisco,
she noticed our waiter had a Chiricano accent (province in Panama).
My question is how can you tell? As a 16 yr old in America, Spanish is Spanish and when I hear it, I understand it but can't really tell differences.
Duh I know a Spanish accent from a Cuban accent and I know a Mexican accent from a Peruvian.
But what about within the country? What if you're Honduran and you meet a person from the Honduran countryside? What words would they pronounce differently?
And I was listening to a song by Chino y Nacho and my mom asked me if they were Venezolanos because they sounded like it...but how did she know o.O
I understand that some people would say "Acostumbrao" instead of "Acostumbrado"
lol I hope my question makes sense. Gracias!!!
I'm going to spain next summer and i barely know more than hola, como estas, mi buin, azul, pan, and easy things like that. So I wanted to know if there is a good inexpensive spanish language program for online
rossetta stone is really good i've heard, but my mom doesn't wanna pay that much money
Yo quiero hablar en espanol! I had a pretty good spanish teacher for Spanish 1 but now that i'm in Spanish 2, I don't learn ANYTHING! I have always wanted to learn to speak spanish and be fluent in the language even going as far as trying to watch the novellas and finds children's books in spanish then gradually work my way up. However, i can't find any books and i only pick up a few words in the novellas, just enough to understand the BARE minimum of what they're saying. I have some friends that claim to be proficient in Spanish, however even after my persistent askig to talk around me, they state that "They don't like to speak Spanish" or that " It just doesn't feel right" -_- are you serious? I REALLY need to catch up on my Spanish this summer so PLEEASE help me and give me some advice on what to do. NO online classes or anything like that(only exception= MAYBE summer classes if mom permits). I WANT QUALITY ANSWERS from people who know what they're talking about!!!!! how do i extend time on a question too?
Is there any way to respond to respond to an answer? Johnny entiendo su mensaje. no soy estúpido, acabo de menores y no considerar el tipo de comentario al corazón. My mom is Mexican, and my dad is German, and they both know English so we mostly talk English, there's some Spanish here and there. Well I hardly know any Spanish and I'm going to Mexico, and I'm just wondering if they're going to hate me or something cause I'm half Latin and don't really know English? So should I learn more Spanish??

Any ideas of where to start learning first??
Like if the job description says that you have to speak spanish but you can't speak spanish, is that considered racist?
I think it is because I'm in America and in America, we speak English.
My mom doesn't think so because it is part of the job description.
Thanks!
Okay, so i'm a beginnner in Spanish. I take classes at school and all. I got a B- on my last exam, and i think i failed my most recent one too. I want to get a A in this class, but i'm just not interested. its been like a month into school, and i know i can't switch classes. I REALLY want to take drama, but my mom FORCED me to take Spanish instead. Should i just suck it up, and study hard? Learn to like it? How can i learn spanish more easily? My spanish teacher moves WAY to fast, and i can't keep up. I feel like i can't keep up w/ the class, and i'll fall behind. How to learn Spanish easily? How can i like Spanish more? How can i get a guaranteed A in Spanish?
Thanks
