Well Everytime I go to wal-mart or any store in Knoxville,Tn they always speaking spanish around me, Do they think I'm mexican to or they saying bad things about me. Do mexicans thinks Light skin blacks are mexican to. Like if someone who died an the police did not know the ethnic background then they say maybe he's light skin black or Mexican.
I not in there business or anything but it seems like when they around me they give me that look an strat speaking in spanish.

There is this hispanic comedian who does this routine about Indians from India knowing spanish better than mexicans. He does an impression of a person speaking spanish in an Indian voice, its hilarious. He also goes on to rap in an indian accent. What is the name of that comedian?

with the mexicans at the mexican resturants I visit

I don't think kids should have to learn spanish because the government can't keep the mexicans across the border. We didn't make them come here why should we have to learn their language they should have to learn english.

I'm learning German because I want to GO TO Germany.

So why do so many Mexicans, Central Americans, and South Americans coming here (legally and illegally) refuse to learn our language, and make us learn theirs?

If you disagree, then why are there about 500 students at my school that CANNOT speak english? I may not be perfect, but hey, this country was english speaking since the conception.

I got to figuring ... if I (or someone else) learns Spanish, and learns it well, do you HAVE to learn to "love the Spanish culture" also? I mean, can one go without the other?

My daughter might have to learn a foreign language someday, and though Spanish might be the most useful (because of all the goddamn illegal Mexicans in my area) ... I don't want to encourage a love or respect for "La Raza" ... next thing you know, she'll be bringing home some gang-bangin' Mexican ex-con ...

... should I encourage her to learn French or German, instead?
Francis, you're a goddamn GENIE-US ... go give yourself a congratulatory enema or something.

I might make the distinction ... if I had any "people from Spain" living in my town. But, seeing as they're all from "Mexico" or "Somewhere even more south than Mexico" ... MEANS THAT THEY'RE MEXICANS, for all intents and purposes.
Maybe I should have said "Mexican" culture ... different or not, it's all the same to me.

The Philippines is a former Spanish colony they have been ruled by Spain for 377 years they have Spanish surnames but only 2% to 3% of Filipinos have Spanish ancestry i'm just wondering why Filipinos don't speak Spanish why did they abandon the Spanish language does anyone know why Mexico like the Philippines is a former Spanish colony they have Spanish surnames but i don't know what percentage of Mexicans have Spanish ancestry but Mexicans never abandoned the Spanish language they still speak Spanish how come Filipinos don't speak Spanish anymore why did Filipinos abandon the Spanish language the Mexicans never did they kept the Spanish language they never abandoned the Spanish language does anyone know why.

I want to learn Spanish mainly to talk to Mexican people.I was thinking of using Rosetta Stone (which brings me to another question - is Rosetta Stone reliable?) but they only offer Spanish (Spain) & Spanish (Latin America) (question #3 which is closer to Mexican Spanish Latin America, or Spain's spanish?).But the point is, would either of those be efficient for talking to Mexicans? And if so how much?

you mexicans are white washed

I ask about Mexicans, and wonder why they don't learn the language at least before illegally immigrating to our country.

It never fails that someone asks "Why don't you learn Spanish before you go to Mexico?"...

The argument always ends when I reply with "I did."

And I would learn any language (enough to communicate) before I went to that country, or at least get a translator. I think it's very rude, just like I do about the illegal Mexicans.

Do you? Why or why not?

What are the different ways (in Spanish) that Mexicans refer to white people? I'm looking for derogatory terms, polite terms, "correct" terms, anything.

More importantly, as a white female who speaks Spanish (rather, trying to become more fluent), how would I refer to myself?
And as long as everyone's stuck on being PC, I'm referring to Caucasian Americans.
I'd like to point out that I'm NOT referring to Mexicans as a race, and am asking specifically about people from Mexico. Hence, Mexicans. I mean no disrespect.

Is it true that white people get ticked off when mexicans start speaking spanish?
