I want to learn Spanish mainly to talk to Mexican people.I was thinking of using Rosetta Stone (which brings me to another question - is Rosetta Stone reliable?) but they only offer Spanish (Spain) & Spanish (Latin America) (question #3 which is closer to Mexican Spanish Latin America, or Spain's spanish?).But the point is, would either of those be efficient for talking to Mexicans? And if so how much?

you mexicans are white washed

I ask about Mexicans, and wonder why they don't learn the language at least before illegally immigrating to our country.

It never fails that someone asks "Why don't you learn Spanish before you go to Mexico?"...

The argument always ends when I reply with "I did."

And I would learn any language (enough to communicate) before I went to that country, or at least get a translator. I think it's very rude, just like I do about the illegal Mexicans.

Do you? Why or why not?

What are the different ways (in Spanish) that Mexicans refer to white people? I'm looking for derogatory terms, polite terms, "correct" terms, anything.

More importantly, as a white female who speaks Spanish (rather, trying to become more fluent), how would I refer to myself?
And as long as everyone's stuck on being PC, I'm referring to Caucasian Americans.
I'd like to point out that I'm NOT referring to Mexicans as a race, and am asking specifically about people from Mexico. Hence, Mexicans. I mean no disrespect.

Is it true that white people get ticked off when mexicans start speaking spanish?
