Hello, I am from The Netherlands, and im in love with this Angel from Mexico. I know the distance between us is so much, but i will go to mexico next summer to meet her, Does anyone know some very good and romantic spanish sentences that i can tell her? Because i really love her so much i just want to be more romantic with her in her own language. :-p

Background: I am Filipino. English is my second language I studied it since nursery.

I have been learning French for 4 years now and I think that's it's about time to start learning another one. I like all these languages. Mandarin I think will be a strong point for me in the future if I master this language but I dont have too much passion and interest for China. Probably just for the language and the tones. It's like a song to the ears. I know it's very difficult and so I must take it seriously. However, I have always wanted to learn another European language. I have a HUGE passion in Europe. Europe is my dream and I hope that I get to live there one day. France is my love. I think it would be an advantage to learn Spanish because it is widely spoken. However, German is also an advantage business-wise? What do you think? Im really torn. I want to choose the best one. My heart is with Europe (Spanish vs German) but I think it would be wise to learn Mandarin... So what is the next step? Help me please!

Please help me. My 8th grade dance is in an hour!

- love, California Girl

I have home in Coral Gables, FL (Miami) and in Atlanta. Both areas have a significant Latino population. Both my business and social life extends into those communities including dinners, parties and social gatherings. I have a Latino girlfriend who knows little English and I know only a little Spanish. Romance is a very powerful force and it is true that love can conquer all...but I sure would like to learn to speak Spanish fluently. Short of going back to school, what is the quickest & best way that I can learn to speak Spanish? Do I have to find an attractive BILINGUAL Latin girl who can tutor me one on one OR what? Thanks World!

So I'm starting on a dual French and Spanish degree course at Leeds University this September and really don't know what to expect.
I love languages and so far I have always got A's and A*'s but I was a little freaked out when I saw all the reading lists and heard that particularly the Spanish course is fully communicated in Spanish

I'm willing to put the work in and I naturally do work at home in both languages on a daily basis but it just seems very scary :/

Any advice/tips or just reassurance would be appreciated!

Does anyone know how I could get free spanish lessons in the Virginia area? I am part spanish and I can't speak the language, how messed up is that? Anyway, I want to be able to get in touch with my latin roots. If there are any latinos out there who want to take me under their wing I'd love to here from you. I have a spanish software kit but it keeps making my computer crash so I can't use it. Por favor, help me. I'll appreciate any answers.

Sorry, I'm just playing with you. I wanted to see all the love pour out!

I have heard that the two subjects are closely related and was wondering if their similarity could cause confusion in the same way that learning several languages at the same time would. I play four instruments (saxophone, trumpet, oboe and drums) and am learning Spanish. I'd love to learn many languages in the future and just hope that I'm not confusing myself.

I'd love to go to Japan and speak it if I ever get a job there (which is slim, since i doubt they have vet jobs there). I want some websites with learning Japanese easily, because I'm already learning Spanish, so I want an easy way for a website to teach me Japanese. Not fast, because there's no such way. A website where it's easy to understand Japanese and learn it.

The first one has Penelope Cruz and she finds out she has HIV. I don't know how she got it if she was a prostitute or she got it from her boyfriend or what I only saw a piece of it not much else. I looked up movies she was in but none of the descriptions under the titles seem to match my description.

The other movie I don't know or remember any of the actors but it is about people comas in a Spanish hospital. This male nurse has fallen in love with a female coma patient that he takes care of. He has to pretend he is gay to keep being her nurse and one day a friend or relative comes to visit the woman and he says something like I'm glad you are gay because I would have her taken out of your charge because when the he came in the room the male nurse was holding her hand or string at her lovingly and the visitor picked up on that. If I'm not mistaken the visitor may have been the woman's father.
The other story in the same movie is a patient that is famous bull fighter but she got gored by a bull and that's how she got in a coma. They show her before her accident and she had just been dumped by her boyfriend. She goes on a Spanish tv talk show but she asked the host before the interview not to talk about the breakup but the host brought it up anyway and they end up fighting on live tv.
* meant to type "..about people in comas in a Spanish hospital"
*staring at her lovingly...
damn typos lol
Thank you both! I looked them up and you are right! Wish I could give you both the points though :(

I'm in French I right now and I'm planning to take French II next year. I'm interested in taking Spanish I along with French II. Would this be a good idea? I'd love to study Spanish, but I don't want my French to suffer.

IF YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE READING THIS WHOLE THING IM BASICALLY ASKING IF YOU KNOW ANY GOOD WAYS TO LEARN SPANISH FAST. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN OFFER :)

I have taken 2 years of Spanish in middle/high school and am now going on to my 3rd year although i do not feel ready and did not understand much in my second year. I have the highest difficulty with my verbs. Im a quick learner, it's just that i've had a horrible spanish teacher. II'd like to be my own teacher now, and i have time cuz its summer, so if you know of any good books (or anything for that matter) that teach the Spanish language in a clear way i'd love to know.

I am an Indian and have been trying to learn Spanish, simply for the love of it! I have the Pimsleur Spanish software to help me. I have been through the first few chapters of the course but I really doubt if that is enough to learn it fluently. I mean people don't really talk as slow as the dubbings in these softwares!! What should I do to retain what I learn and to get a better hold on the actual spoken Spanish.
I don't have any spanish-speaking people around me and so I can't talk to them either.

How come those Latin girls are so cold and cruel to us Asian guys who are in love with them ? When will a Latina ever opens her heart to a lonely Asian dude who is nice to her ?

I've been trying to learn spanish for three years. and moved in with my boyfriend's family and his the only one who is billingual. Why has it been so hard for me to learn when I hear the language everyday, and love spanish music and culture. I even took two years of expensive classes but all I pretty much now is common greetings and colors and badwords.
I can say hi, how are you?

and radom words such as shirt or shoes or ugly or house

Yeah, so, my ex who I was madly in love with years ago married my once best friend. When parting, they would say T.Q.M. She was taking spanish courses and he spoke spanish fluently. They made allusions to it being a spanish term as well. Does anyone know what this might mean?

I got to figuring ... if I (or someone else) learns Spanish, and learns it well, do you HAVE to learn to "love the Spanish culture" also? I mean, can one go without the other?

My daughter might have to learn a foreign language someday, and though Spanish might be the most useful (because of all the goddamn illegal Mexicans in my area) ... I don't want to encourage a love or respect for "La Raza" ... next thing you know, she'll be bringing home some gang-bangin' Mexican ex-con ...

... should I encourage her to learn French or German, instead?
Francis, you're a goddamn GENIE-US ... go give yourself a congratulatory enema or something.

I might make the distinction ... if I had any "people from Spain" living in my town. But, seeing as they're all from "Mexico" or "Somewhere even more south than Mexico" ... MEANS THAT THEY'RE MEXICANS, for all intents and purposes.
Maybe I should have said "Mexican" culture ... different or not, it's all the same to me.

personally I'd love to learn Spanish but would it be useful ? I don't really like French but it's probably the most useful one and I really should learn Russian cause all of my family speaks Russian... its hard choosing just one for now :(
My first language was Russian, I spoke it fluently until I was 6 and went to Australia - so I sort of forgotten everything. Russian is also more difficult to learn and takes like 5 years.

I really want to listen to good Spanish songs this summer. Not the hip hop Spanish songs, or RnB sounding Spanish songs. Just classic Spanish songs that talk of love and has the Spanish guitar in them.

I downloaded The mentalist (both seasons) in english obviously and i have no problem with it, but i'd love to lend it to my mom who doesn't understand english. I know how to burn a cd and have the tv show ready to watch but it'd be useless without spanish subtitles. anyone knows? thanks.

I'm studying Spanish as a second language and love to know south american accent better; do you know any good TV series or movies in that area?
Thanks!

I was in Argentina this past month and I totally fell in love with it. I loved the culture, the people, weather, everything. My question is, is their any jobs for an American who can't speak any Spanish in this country? I have a masters degree from a pretty good university here in the states so I'm wondering if its possible for me to teach at a International American University down in BA (Lincoln University). Are these jobs competitive? Any other ideas? Thanks!

PS- I'm a 25 year old male, if that makes a difference.

I live near Miami, and the majority of the population either speaks spanish, is rude, or speaks rude spanish lol. I just want to be able to say this to them to get my point accross! (they came here from 'wherever' because it's better, but refuse to learn the language?!?!?!)
Go read this, you'll see why it p*isses me off.

And "bella" and "come break me down", you're both idiots. There are Immigration laws for a Reason.
Mr.Inquisitor.

You're one of the people I'm upset with. Yes, I realize I'm in miami and that I'm the minority here, but you fail to get it through your obviously brick-thick skull that Miami is a part of the UNITED STATES, in which ENGLISH is the national language. Would you move to Germany and expect it's residents to cater to your language deficiency? I think not.

I'd really love for you to read my blog (link above). And feel free to spout some more horse-s*hit at it. I won't even waste my time deleting it. I'd like eveyrone who reads it to see the fault in your reasoning.

It's a Spanish song about a man who only speaks spanish and an American woman who only speaks english, and they're in love. I heard it in Florida on the radio about seven years ago. I'm not looking for the duck version either. It's by David Paredes, but I can't find an mp3 or anything.
