Im honduran. About 95 percent of my family including my parents both speak english and spanish... I grew up not really speaking spanish. When I was little my mom tried teaching me but when I would go to school It seemed like I would get confused between the two languages english and spanish. So Teachers told my mom that I had a speech problem. So long story short in order to prevent problems in the future for me My parents just taught me english, never to really learn spanish again.
I am 20 years old now. If I hear a spanish person talking or when my parents talk in spanish I pretty much know exactly what they are saying. Most times I can repeat back in english word from word what I just heard in spanish. & Sometimes I get confused or thrown of by a certain word but I'm always on point as far as what the topic was regarding. So I'm not dumbfounded at all as far as spanish is concerned. BUT the problem comes when I have to speak back! I get tongue tied, I have to double think how to conjugate this word or that one. If I want to know what something means in spanish i have to ask or look it up. When 9 times out of the 10 i heard the word million of times before... FUNNY THING IS, I can read and write spanish(writing is not soo so perfect) but everything in spanish i perform so well in except speaking it. I guess its because i started learning through hearing and years ago when i got serious about it I started reading it. Then in highschool i took a spanish class for about three years where i learned more and also wrote in spanish...... I tried getting my parents to help, but sometimes my mom is impatient when i ask what this and that means. And she talks spanish to me because its something we are so use to doing. My Dad never speaks spanish, even in Honduras. Because he grew up on an Island where they only spoke english, and just recently he started speaking spanish often because of where he works but i think he prefers english better..... So right now its only me teaching myself, my only sources that I have is hearing others when they speak and an online translator. So I was wondering what can I do, to perfect at it speaking wise?? Thank You

I only have three years of school, and this year I wasted trying to learn French (a quickly made decision I have regretted). But I've always wanted to learn Mandarin, because of my fascination with chinese culture. But my dad says that I should learn Spanish because it's so widely spoken. Plus, I want to learn it as well. I can learn two languages; would it be nigh impossible to learn both of these languages?
"?" I meant I only had three years of highschool left.
I read somewhere that his dad was mexican and his mom is black. However, his dad died when Cudi was young. Do you think his dad ever tought him spanish? And if he did, can he still speak it or understand it?
My mom is Mexican, and my dad is German, and they both know English so we mostly talk English, there's some Spanish here and there. Well I hardly know any Spanish and I'm going to Mexico, and I'm just wondering if they're going to hate me or something cause I'm half Latin and don't really know English? So should I learn more Spanish??

Like my 4th grade teacher, my Spanish teacher, my dad, my sister, my aunt-- the pitch of their voices aggravate me to the point I cry or get headaches. Why is that?
My dad has to learn spanish for an upcoming test to become a border patrol agent and he is wondering what the easiest way to learn it is. The test is around December 1st and he has no experience with learning the spanish language. Any ideas???
What are the best ways to learn a language + what language should i start learning next? I speak 4 languages atm. German (cos my dad is Austrian) + Shona (i grew up in Zimbabwe) + English + Spanish (i live n go to school in spain) fluently.. so what should i learn next? I
I have Spanish family and at the end of October im going to Spain to see them, the language barrier has always been a problem and this year i want to impress. I am looking for a free method so that i can do it all by myself without anyone knowing, so i can shock my dad with my language skills! Any methods are suitable, as long as it only takes 2 hours a day max. Thanks!
So I want to know 4 languages (good job opportunities and easier travel). I know English, am studying Japanese and French (intermediate student in both), and I WAS going to learn Mandarin Chinese..... I've tried it, and I really don't like it. If I don't like it, it won't be fun xD (and learning languages is somehow fun for me lol)
I've LOVED Italian for awhile, I wanted to switch in school for both heritage and fun, but my parents depend on me getting a scholarship for French ( -_- ). I think it's a really romantic sounding language and I love the flow of it (similar to Japanese except Japanese doesn't stress vowels and stuff......) so I REALLY want to learn Italian.
However, in the US, Spanish is VERY important now. My best friend is from Paraguay and they speak Spanish at home (it's like a second home to me lol XD) and I've picked up some Spanish from her house. I've never been able to actually get into the language. It's never really appealed to me. I don't know what it is, the sound, I have no idea. Just doesn't (Funny cause I have a completely Spanish first and last name by coincidence- the first name wasn't on purpose and the last name is cause my dad misspelled our name when changing it back to what it was before Ellis Island- so instead of a Portuguese name we ended up with a Spanish name, so everyone thinks I'm Spanish xD It's quite funny actually.... spanish tele-marketers provide endless amusement and Japanese practice).
ANYWAY.
Which should I learn, Italian or Spanish. I don't think I could learn both of them right now, seeing as I have to push myself to learn basic German in like 2 weeks because we have an exchange student coming and then I'm going there. I like German, I may take it up later, but for now I'm just learning it cause I'll need to use it sometime soon. So which one should I learn, Italian or Spanish? I love Italian, but Spanish is SO much more useful in the US (even though I wanna travel a lot)...
Btw I'm not looking for "Well ____ is easier so you should learn that". I'm tired of hearing people say "Learn Spanish cause it's easy" it was everyone's excuse in middle school because they didn't want to take a language. -_- I wanted to hit them. So I'm not looking for difficulty, I'm just asking your honest opinion. Hell I've taught myself intermediate Japanese in like 2 years and I have pronunciation like a native(been studying for 3 years but I started making an effort after the first year lol). So which one should I learn (again xD). I enjoy Italian, but Spanish is important.
Pleeeaaase don't say they are the same language. Yes I know they're similar and I can read written Spanish with no problem due to French and some vocabulary links with English (and French).
I failed Spanish. My dad told me to take German. A friend said to take French.
Which is the easiest?
OMG I want to learn how to speak spanish soooooooo bad. My dad knows and my mom kinda does, and I'm mexican so I really want to know. If anyone knows any really good online 'learn how to speak spanish' websites, please please let me know.
Thankks.
Well my family is chinese but in that dream, my dad was on his cell phone speaking Spanish while me and my mom was speaking chinese. That's just the specific detail I remember, the rest of the dream I forgot. What could it mean?
1. You went to the beach. You built a sand castle.
2. You were with your parents. You made them something to eat.
3. You went for a walk. You were carrying things.
4. You were with your mom. You had backpacks.
5. You were with your dad. You were in a crowd.
1. We were watching the tv when the phone rang.
2. I asked for the chicken and rice.
3. She refused to make the bed.
4. Every summer my family and I used to take a trip to Spain.
5. Mom set the table and dad served the food.
My family always talks in spanish, not my dad and his family but my mom and her family. they always talk about things such as about people and about me and its really starting to get annoying, does anyone know how to or where to learn or download spanish, It needs to be free and it doesent matter if its quick but atleast a little easy... its a easy 10 points!

My dad and I have a bet about what percentage of Californians speak Spanish. I say less than 50% and my dad says 50%.
I'm talking about pretty much at the level of fluency.
