If your job posted you in a rural American town which is full of Hispanics & no English speakers - would you work in that town & learn Spanish so as to interact with the locals?

Most of the people in my school are hispanic, & most of my friends are. So is it easy to learn spanish ? My friend is atempting to teach me. Lol. I also took spanish last year..& it was just the basic stuff. So that was pretty easy. Thankyouu. <33

I have always known a bit, but I am trying to get a little more serious about learning the language. I am looking for audio CD's on B&N .com and I'm just wondering if anyone here has gone through this process and has any good audio CD programs they would recommend. Thanks!

I bought the 1&2 bundle for spanish. I just got to the level 2 and there is no study guide included? Is there one available?

so friday i am leaving for spring break!!! the problem is, is that all my teachers are trying to cram in tests beforehand so we won't "forget all we learned over Spring Break"

so, now i am FREAKING out!
--i have 5 or 6 tests this week (thurs & fri)
--i have to get packed for spring break (leaving right after school on fri)
--i have to have time to study for each of my tests.

so Spanish is the one that i am most worried about. i have an A- in the class and CAN NOT afford to do poorly ( and i got a C on the last test) spanish just isn't my strong suit.

I need some Spanish memorization tips please!
i am begging you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks! =]

I mean i heard some pretty smart people only got B's & C's...and i'm kinda of scared..because I am already doing Algebra 2 as a freshman & Idk if i will be able to handle it all.

Is there anyway I can learn some spanish on my own over the Summer??

I'm currently studying spanish & i do know that if i don't practice on a daily basis i will forget most of the stuff that i already know.So i need sorta like a schedule/plan to stick with & keep me more organized in learning this language?Any suggestions please??

I know 1 in California, New York, & Canada. Any others? I think I heard that the UK had some, too.

Please comment if you have used this software or know someone who has.
How effective is this program from a real world perspective instead of my only current source of information, which is their own, biased, infomercials and website.
Exactly how fluent will I be if I use Rosetta Stone Latin American Spanish language packs 1 & 2 all the way through?
For example...would I be able to read a Mexican newspaper, from cover to cover?....
I will understand what percentage of it?
Thank you for your time,
Perry in FL
So you are now able to speak and understand Spanish?

I'm a nursing major & i know that Spanish is an extremely valuable language in the profession, especially in California (my state). So how can i go about learning the language in college? I want to become fairly fluent. Do I have to minor in Spanish? or could I just include some courses? If you minor in spanish, don't you have to learn about the culture and history and all that extra stuff? It's interesting, but I dont care about that stuff. I just want to speak it.

what other languages do you think would be u

I am currently studying: Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Italian, Hindi, & Russian. I would like safe, reliable websites that help you learn the language and their culture. Also, on some of the websites, I would also like the transliteration for the following languages: Hindi, Russian, & Japanese.

I think it would be funny and weird and stupid if someone learned the english spoken in southern states like carolina or alabama etc (redneck accent)
But I wonder if its the same in Spain? Is it stupid for someone who is not born and raised in Sevilla to attempt to adopt the sevillan accent? & does the sevillan accent sound uneducated or have a negative image among spaniards like how in the USA the southern accent of the southern states has sort of a redneck image uneducated image to it?

Planning to visit either USA or Canada for my wrestling training. And for that I must have VISA. And as far as i knw..getiing VISA is easy for CANASA while for USA it's tough. I am looking for some free online Spanish news (or religious/talk show) channels to help me learn Spanish.

I am particularly interested in news from Chile, Peru & Bolivia (my sponsored child lives in Peru & I have friends who have just moved to Bolivia).

Also - please just generally point me towards any other interesting Spanish TV or radio channel (online) that you know of, eg. one that does telenovelas.

Muchas gracias

I didn't say that we should all have to learn to speak Spanish. I simply wanted to know WHY it bothers you so much to see things in Spanish or to hear Spanish given as an option & HOW it affects you personally.

Nobody is talking about taking away your beloved English here.
Karma....did you even READ my question? Nobody here is giving me an answer to this question.

Can you write me some simple Spanish sentences using the following words/phrases?

conocer a alguien

cada

antes

despues

entonces

luego

porfin

abrir

primero

***You can use up to 3 of these words in the same sentence. & Make sure these are very simple sentences. Im only in Spanish 1 :)

I plan a career in buisness but am not sure what to study; Spanish or German.

i took two years of spanish in middle & high school then stopped due to scheduling conflicts but i was wondering if it is possible to learn spanish through normal movies with subtitles and translated books.

I have a boyfriend who speaks spanish & puts things on his statuses & i really would like to know what it means. I have a few sentences to decode now but I need a over time translator person first lol. Thanks :)

I'm 19 and mixed with black/mexican. My mother & most of my other mexican relatives speak spanish & a limited amount of english so I can't really talk to them. I feel awful because I love my mother so much but I can't talk to her and I always have to have my brother translate stuff to her. I met my boyfriend 6 months ago who happens to be mexican and he wants me to learn spanish so bad and even offered to pay for my classes etc.

Is spanish pretty easy to learn?

I work as a supervisor for a company who has at&t as a client and we as supervisors were told by our mangers that AT&T our client doesn't want spanish on the call floor. Given the assumtion that I am fluent in English, possess intermediate (spoken) levels of tamil & hindi, can read and write arabic and had extreme difficulty in "trying" to learn french.

I want to learn Spanish mainly to talk to Mexican people.I was thinking of using Rosetta Stone (which brings me to another question - is Rosetta Stone reliable?) but they only offer Spanish (Spain) & Spanish (Latin America) (question #3 which is closer to Mexican Spanish Latin America, or Spain's spanish?).But the point is, would either of those be efficient for talking to Mexicans? And if so how much?
