We don't speak fast, it's just that lots of space is filled in with prepositions ("de", etc) and articles ("la" "el") which in English you don't use a lot times. For me, the more I practice the better at ti I become. Use everyday situations to build on your spanish vocabulary. Just like how you learn to speak English fast. You keep talking the language so it just comes naturally. For example when you order something to eat, try saying it in your mind first in spanish. That way you will familiarize yourself with different things. Reading spanish books is also a good way to start as well. Also doesn't your teacher as you questions and what not? Thing is, you would learn, perhaps the most basic Spanish but you can do it. it was veery helpful for my brother with chinese which i believe is way harder so yeah. It is posible.
