Rosetta Stone: does it work and was it hard to learn another language?
I want to learn Spanish and I've heard Rosetta Stone is the best learning tool. Has anyone tried it and does it work? I know it's expensive, but just wondering if it's worth it and how it works....

Just do not waste either your money or your time on this kind of rubbish! All Rosetta Stone does is making people repeat simple things (usually words without ANY context, no grammar, no explanations at all) like a parrot, nothing else. None of the levels will bring anyone near fluent in any language, let alone mastering it, so it is a huge cash-in for absolutely NOTHING. Stay well away from this very overpriced, overhyped and overrated gimmick which will never ever be able to replace any real language lessons nor other learning activities in ANY language whatsoever!
I did a few demos and seriously I prefer the Pimsleur method. I didn’t really like R-S just because of the way it is set up. On their website you can demo it (you’ll have to enter your email to do so).
By the way; your library probably carries Rosetta.
Is Rosetta Stone good? Yes. Is it worth hundreds of dollars? No.
I agree that I like Pimsleur better. And you’d want to supplement that with a variety of other resources, such as the free http://www.spanishdict.com and http://www.wordchamp.com.
