Obama said America should stop focusing on English language and should make sure our children learn spanish?!?
I heard him verbatim today on news. I mean, what's with that?! Sure, it is definitely good to learn SECOND language by CHOICE! But I have to wonder, if it were the Iranians or perhaps any other country crossing our border in droves, would he expect us to learn that language as well?
I THOUGHT IT WAS "OUT OF MANY.... ONE?"
Doesn't he understand that a nations LANGUAGE is VITAL to a nation's communication, cohesion, and identify?
And for believers, it was God who instituted languages which He did for a reason.

WDPLM?2: So true. I used to be a teacher public schools. In order to conference with my spanish-speaking students' parents, my students had to interpret (how lame is that)?
Now I am employed at a hospital and the Ukranians and Russians coming are excelling in English and making tremendous effort to assimilate.

How many languages does obama speak fluently?
I think he’s just being realistic about how widespread the Spanish language is. Hispanics are going to become the largest cultural group in the U.S. Spanish may become as widely spoken as English, and we may have to become like Canada, accepting two official languages.
I agree in part to what you are saying. My husband who is an immigrant to the USA has lost many opportunities because he does not dominate the English language. On the other hand we do have to remember that we are not the only ones here in the country, the country has many nations wich first languade is English, for example here in Florida there are many Canadians.
And in part Obama has a good strategy in wanting to children to learn Spanish. In the respect that it is a very good buissness tactic. Think about how many employers dont know spanish, but there majority of workers are hispanic. My friends in the north such as Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri often want to learn spanish because they know they will have more buissness. Hispanics (not all) tend to take very good care of there credit, and tend to stay in the same job for years, as well as place where they live. So it makes sense, I myself would love to learn Creole. I have learned other languages like Vietnamese, Hindu, and Lao, just so that my fellow co-workers and I could communicate. I am not fluent but can speak the basic.
Thinking oustisde the box how many things come manufactured from Guatemala, Mexico etc. The USA depends on things we get from other countries. There are many people here who have made a fortune from having companies in Latin America, you think those people dont speak Spanish or at least try to understand it in order to be successfull.
And Mr.Obama should stop focusing on our children learning another language, Which is one choice, and focus on DE programing his children from all the hate messages, they had to endure . while he was attending his racist church. Until he does this, Then don’t come tell me, what my children need.. As he not qualified. but come to think of it, he is not qualified for president either,As every time he opens his mouth proves this over and over.
Americans can say " Thank you " in French. I going to assume that is the only language other then English barry knows. He promised " Change " and making a Country of English speaking people to learn Spanish to make it fair to criminals who snuck into this Country. Liberals suck harder then a Orick X-L. Only in America.
I am sure he knows a Nations language is vital to it’s people, to keep people of a country, as ONE NATION, but you see, Barack Obama doesn’t want America to be ONE Nation, (under God, or Freedom believing),except if we all become Liberal Socialists, which will make us poor, and bled dry by illegal trespassers, always giving, but never getting, except what he and his Socialist regime would deem we need to survive, not to have more because we earned it.
Barack Obama wants Amnesty for illegal trespassers, the same as Nancy Pelosi,(D, Speaker of the House) Hillary Clinton,( D, NY) Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Barbara Boxer (D, Ca), and Diane Feinstein (D, Ca).
I think if Barack Obama is elected, he will do everything in his power to make that Amnesty happen, and the better for his agenda, if he causes all of Americans, especially our children to learn the language of the illegals from Mexico, the better to be incorporated into his agenda. We, Americans will not have such a hard time accepting lawbreakers as one of us anymore, since we will have been brain-washed by Obama to make us feel equal to "used-to-be" illegals, and will have been convinced that the illegal Mexican Nationals have every right to be here.
I would rather learn French than Spanish, and I detest the French!
1st, this is politics. Leave God out of it cause he wants nothing to do with it. 2nd, you take it out of context. He wants to promote the education of children by instituting schools with more then just math. Adding mandatory arts and extra languages classes. He isn’t undermining our language, he’s trying to bring back the arts. GASP…a democrat doing a very liberal thing!

I heard about this, thats just one more reason to add to the list of things that i disagree with when it comes to him being america’s next president. but sadly it looks as though he just might get it, so many are falling for his smooth talking, he could tell them that they were all useless pawns in his quest for world domination and as long as he said it with that smooth voice , they all will fall over backward for him.
I was born and raised in California, but moved to Oregon 6 years ago, when I moved, it was almost impossible to get a job in the service industry unless you were Bi-Lingual. with Spanish being the preferred second language.
I think that what so many politicians don’t realize, is that it is not that many of them do not speak English, it is a game that many of them play, in order to manipulate and control.

But the modern generation of Hispanic immigrants are not assimilating the same way previous generations of immigrants have done. Most immigrant families are speaking English in and out of the home by the time the first generation of native-born Americans are adults. But a significant percentage of immigrants from Mexico are still speaking Spanish at home in their third generation. In fact, almost half of Hispanic immigrants now live in communities in America where Spanish is the primary language.
And Sen. Obama’s response? The rest of us should learn Spanish, too. He makes me sick!
