Learning to Speak Spanish Without Accent?
Hi,
I'm not a native speaker of Spanish, so I would like to know how difficult it is to acquire the ability to pronounce Spanish words as accurately as do native speakers. Ideally I would be able to get rid of my American accent, but seeing as how many non-native speakers of English have an accent when speaking English, I'm afraid I won't be able to get rid of my American accent when speaking Spanish.
Any advice on how to get rid of an accent?

An accent is not something we get rid of but it can change slightly over time. If early in your childhood you were not exposed to native Spanish speakers and you had no chance to somehow practice it, it becomes more and more difficult to speak it without your native accent (this varies by region so it isn’t just an "American" accent, it can be urban, midwestern, texas twang or whatever). Many people have trouble even trying to imitate regional accents in the same language – so don’t be discouraged if you can’t nail a flawless Spanish.
It takes time, practice and if you aren’t quite getting it, maybe finding a speech coach who can teach you more about how the tongue, teeth, mouth and breath play a role in the accent you want to achieve.
speak to some native speakers and have then teacher you to.
I speak spanish and live in Indiana,we have the worst american accents of all time but when i speak spanish i have noticed that my voice changes alot, even when i dont try to make it change.I sing alot in spanish and I think that is what helped me the most.My family and friends laugh at me when I speak in engish with a spanish accent though lol.
dont worry about it. i have an american accent somewhat when i speak certain spanish words. as long as you pronounce the words correctly it doesnt matter. you will have a lot of problems with the word gracias tho, i dont know why.
