A friend recently said that the majority of America, (both North and South) speak Spanish as their first Language, can this genuinely be true.

If you’re talking about the "c o n t i n e n t s" of North and South America, the vast majority of the countries in the "continent" of South America and the countries in the "Southern" most part of the "continent" of North America, area known as Central America, are Spanish speaking. Central America is not a separate continent, is part of North America.
BUT, if you’re talking about the United States of America, also known as "America" as it’s nickname because it’s part of its "official" name, it’s not true, the vast majority of the people in the USA speak English as their first language, not Spanish.
If by saying America you mean the whole continent, i guess it’s true.

96% of Americans claim to speak English "well". Spanish is spoken by 12% of the population. So no, actually. Not. Silly.

Maybe the majority of people who speak two languages natively speak Spanish as their first language in the US rather than French or German.
But I still think the major language that is spoken in America is the English language. Most people in the US are monolingual english speakers.

Slightly but yes it’s true, Spanish is spoken (as a first language i mean) by approximately 310 million in many nations throughout the continent while English is spoken by approximately 300 million people in the United States, Canada, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, The Bahamas, Bermuda, Belize, Guyana, the Falklands and many islands of the Caribbean.
Facts? Even in The United States of America, Canada and Brazil there are millions of immigrants whose first language is Spanish and they are not being counted there.

In the US, and Canada the majority speak English. In Mexico, Ccentral America, and South America the majority speak spanish. So it depends where they are at in the Americas
