If it's FM Radio you need to get an antenna since FM waves travel line of sight.

Try relocating your radio into a different section of your room/house... Sometimes if you're in a basement or other parts of the house, certain stronger radio signals cannot be intercepted by the antenna... Continue moving the antenna and relocating the radio until you get a decent signal... If not... get another radio with a stronger receiver...

Any radio receiver, whether it be a.m. or f.m., depends for its correct operation on receiving a sufficiently strong signal.

Unless you live in an area where the received signal strength is high then inbuilt a.m. antennas and the silly bits of wire they provide for the f.m. band are simply inadequate and you need to use a properly installed (outside and high) proper antenna.

By "stronger" receiver, it must be assumed that Abner G really means a more sensitive receiver.
Which is all very well, but how does the average radio buyer know how to interpret a receiver's specifications - even if he could find them?
