How necessary is it to speak Spanish in Austin, Texas?
Okay so I don't know any Spanish, besides maybe a few words. Where I live in Texas, it's not a big deal, but I was in Houston about a week ago, and all I saw was Hispanic people who didn't know a word of English. If I relocate to Austin, will I have a hard time with employment.
I've been to Austin many times, and from what I saw I could get by, but I wanted to know for sure.

No silly, 99% of folks in Austin know how to speak english so it’s not necessary to speak spanish.
well know a few things would be good but not the whole language
Unless your job requires Spanish, it should not be an issue
well last i checked austin, texas is still in the USA so english would be just fine
You don’t need to speak Spanish to live in Austin. It would look good on a resume, but I’ve been here two months and it hasn’t even come up yet.
Kid, you don’t need spanish in Houston either. I’ve lived there for over 30 years, and never had to address anyone in any other language but English. Nice bait.
Yeah , thats good but , You will have to learn spanish
Anyone who has spent any amount of time in Houston knows that this is not true. Houston is an international city with people of all types of ethnicity. While it is true that there is a large Hispanic population, there are also large African American and Asian American populations.
With that being said, and to answer your question, anyone can survive just fine in both Houston and Austin without knowing a lick of Spanish.
well when i lived there everyone knew span and eng so maybe u could learn it. it would be helpful and that missyp bitch doesnt know what she’s talking about.
This is still the United States of America. We speak English. If people are here that cannot speak our language, we will try to help them to see what they need. We will try to help others in need that cannot speak our Language. They need to learn our language if they want to incorporate themselves and their families, etc. into our country and our culture.
Don’t worry about having to learn other languages to get a job in the United States. Cheers.
