How hard is it to learn Spanish?
I'm taking Spanish 1 next year for sure (sophomore year), but I'm eager to get a head start. Mostly because I am in Mexico right now and hardly anyone at this resort speaks English so now I'm really wanting to learn before next time I come back (2 more years) haha. How hard is it to learn and about how long would it take to learn fluent Spanish?
Would it be easy to get a hard start by learning some Spanish online or is online trickier than a class?

It’s fairly easy. I’m going to AP Spanish IV next year and I’m almost fluent. As long as you do all your work then you should be fine. I would think online is trickier, since you don’t have someone to answer your questions.
Spanish is pretty easy to learn. Try downloading some podcasts from iTunes to help you out.
I hope you have fun in Mexico!
You can also try buying a tourist’s "phrase book" or a dictionary to get you started with the simple bits of Spanish. It is ALWAYS better to have a headstart.
It’s really hard if you don’t have conversations with people and speak spanish every single day and almost never speak english. It’s alot of work. I took spanish class for a whole year and even did a little at home. It was only 2 years ago and I only remember one word. So you better have the time and patience! Good luck!
Very hard.
Harder than your dad was last night while he watched Cake Boss.
It shouldn’t be a hard transition for an English speaker considering there are many cognates (words that look the same). For people who take Spanish in school, it takes about 5 years plus some immersion in a Spanish speaking country for about a year.
Immersion is often described as the best way to learn any language because you are literally forced to learn it.
Becoming fluent in a language is much more than taking a few classes, its virtually impossible to become "fluent" in a language from classes alone and no conversation or immersion experience.
Well it’s not too hard, I know fluent Spanish because it’s my first language:) Yea, Im Mexican-American. Im also taking Spanish 4 next year(sophmore too). It probably would take a while to finally start learning it fluently, but it’s a pretty easy language. Very similar to English, in many words too. Just be patient, don’t stress yourself, though I think English is a harder language especially that Spanish has an easier pronounciation. I don’t know about online, I think a class is much easier, because you have a teacher actually explaining it to you. Well hope you have a great time in Mexico:) I live in a border city right next to Mexico, so usually I can go anytime.
Yes, in my opinion, spanish is hard to learn. However apparently it is the easiest language to learn, so it’s a good thing I chose spanish as my language haha. I’ve been taking it 5 years and I will be going into spanish 4 this coming school year. It’s hard, but as you have found it, it is so beneficial to learn! I would think that learning spanish online is much harder than in class. However if you want to get just a slight head start, try learning some common phrases and colors, foods, places, etc.
Good luck!
