How difficult would it be for a 13 year old to learn Spanish?
I've started the 7th grade this year. I'm interested in learning Spanish, and teaching myself. How hard, in your opinion, do you believe it will be to learn? Also, what would be some good things to use, if I wanted to learn?

I taught it to myself and jumped into Spanish class when I was supposed to be behind everyone else by two years! If you are good at learning languages and understanding grammar you can do it.
You should use the internet, keep notes about grammar in a journal, conjugations and things like that. Watching cartoons in Spanish is good too. Get a Spanish dictionary and as you learn more Spanish, begin to read in it. Speak it as much as you can, but make sure your pronunciation is right or you might make a bad habit that will be hard to break. Remember that the vowel sounds in Spanish are always the same, there are never long or short vowels. If you haven’t taken a language before you should start with basic phrases, I took Latin before Spanish so I understood a little.
Have fun!!! I’m teaching myself Russian now!
It’s a pretty easy language, if you’re a good self teacher, will keep up with it (use it), AND are skilled with languages. If I were you, the best tools are others who can speak Spanish. Start yourself off with the basic verb conjugations, colors, really basic words (at, the, them, of), and numbers.
The most important thing ( and the first thing you need to do ) is learn the pronounciation of the letters. Teach yourself those before anything else, so then you won’t stutter or trip over your words as much.
Hey – good for you. There’s certain people who just learn languages really well – maybe you’re one of them. Can you get any of those courses – like on a CD – which teach you Spanish??? They’re out there. Ask down at the video store where they rent movies – they can look anything up. Or go on the Net and Google – Learning Spanish CD – or something like that.
You can learn Spanish out of a book, but it’s going to be a LOT easier if you can hear it spoken. Or perhaps you live where they speak Spanish around you??? – then you go grab a Spanish speaker and make him teach you the language. Learn the fun stuff first – the normal phrases – copy the inflections that you hear.
It might be a lot of fun.
The younger you are the easier it is to learn and the longer the language stays with you. Go for it.
If you like it, it won’t be too hard because you want to study it.
nope not really, im thirteen in 8th grade and i am taking spanish1. its kinda easy, just be sure to pay attentions and ask if you dont get somethin.
Now I am a grandpa of 70.When I was 12 I started English and I think I am pretty good at it.Now English is much easier than Spanish.I started Spanish nearly 50 years ago and I am not very good yet.To learn a language you will have to put your heart into it.Just love it and never ever give up.For you I think you should make a lot of little cards as big as credit cards.Write 5 words on each of them.Try to learn 5 words every day, meaning, spelling and pronounciation.Dios le bendiga.God bless you.
If you are really good at grammar in nglish, spanish is no big deal. As far as things to use, there are any websites that provide crosswords, wordsearches, and worksheets. Be sure to pick a good book you can stick with and easily learn from since everyone learns differently. And be sure to practice a lot. When you get something down, try using it by speaking to a spanish speaker (maybe in a resturant, etc.) or using spainglish (part english and part spanish) at home to help you memorize things better. Also, there is a website recommended by many spanish teachers you can visit. The URL is http://studyspanish.com/ . A good idea is to work from the bottom up….starting with the alphabet. I hope you find this somewhat useful. Good Luck to ya!
