Try to focus on the similarities between Spanish and English. Spanish uses the same grammar as English except when you describe something. In that case you name the object first and then you describe it.
There are 2 different verbs for TO BE, SER and ESTAR. SER is used to describe permanent situations and characteristics, ESTAR is used for temporary situatios, like being at home, sick or tired.
The tenses are used in the same way. If you would use present tense in English you would also do so in Spanish.
Learn the meaning of the most impórtant verbs and
words and learn the standard conjugations:
AR ER IR
yo -o -o -o
tú -as -es -es
él/ella/usted -a -e -e
nosotros -amos -emos -imos
ellos/ustedes -an -en -en
The AR, ER or IR are replaced by the endings underneath them.
The pres. continious is the same as in English; AR is replaced by -ANDO, ER and IR are replaeced by -IENDO. Because actions are always temporary you always use ESTAR.
The future tense is the same as in English except that GO is not in the pres. cont.
Yo voy a ("I go to" instaed of I’m going to)
Tú vas a
Él/ella/ud. va a
nosotros vamos a
Ellos/Uds. van a
As is English this is followed by an infinitive (=a complete verb)
Well, I think you have enough to practise for now.
Good luck for now and we’ll have a look at the past tenses and the rest once you’ve got all this down.
go to google.com, type translation, there should be a list of translation websites, you can make it from any language to any language, make it english to spanish and type what you need to know, it should give you the word or sentence in spanish
Buy a spanish book or dictionary
try speaking and singing Spanish poems and songs. when i did have Spanish class our teacher made us memorize and sing songs and recite poems. it help a lot cause we learn to like the language
It depends on how you learn. Some people can watch some spanish TV each day and it helps, some can listen to spanish music, some need to read, some need instruction tapes, some need a tutor. You have to figure out what works for you.
You can read books in Spanish If you know little vocabulary, start with a kiddy book, then, when you think that you can understand everything in the kiddy books, jump to another more difficult. And each time you see a word you don’t know, look in a dictionary.
I’m Mexican and I study English at school, and this has worked perfect for me. I understand perfectly all the readings in my book.

Learning Spanish can be so boring if a teacher relies on a text and does not supplement with other interesting and fun things. I think so many high school teachers forget that learning should be fun because we actually retain more information when we’re having fun.
The best FREE site to visit if you are wanting to supplement your learning in a classroom setting is http://www.studyspanish.com You can probably find lessons that correspond to the lessons you’re having in class.
(They also sell a portion of their program so when you click on the site you’ll see their sales letter–just ignore this–you can scroll down to the bottom or use the tabs at the left to get some of their free lessons!
If you are really interested in learning the language you need to find a program that immerses you–Rocket Spanish is the best online program if you really want to learn.
