My man only spoke Spanish when I first met him, and I only spoke English. We’ve been together for 5 years and now I’m fluent in Spanish and his English is almost perfect. We taught each other and tried to learn as much as about each other’s cultures as possible. Anyone can do it.
The best way is to take class at community college if you’re not still in school. Failing that, you can get tapes at the library or ask him to teach you.
