I doubt that spoken English of any variation would decrease in use or actually become extinct, but I think that Mandarin, Spanish or French would possibly become the most spoken in U.S.
After all, the surrounding areas of the Caribbean Islands, Central America and South America seem to be primarily linked to French, Portuguese, or Spanish…with numerous others,
Then across the Northern U.S. Border, English may be widely used and understood in Canada, but French also has a wide reputation…with possible others.
In the U.S. State of California, more than 200 languages are acknowledged, while about 60.5% speak English, about 25.8% Spanish, about 2.6% Mandarin Chinese, and about 2% Pilipino Tagalog.
Then in the U.S. state of Louisiana, the two official languages are French and English. Other spoken languages include Cajun French, Louisiana Creole French, Cajun English, Brooklyn Yet Dialect, Spanish, Vietnamese, and German.
The U.S. state of Alaska has more than 90 spoken languages, with 10 being indigenous languages:
The U.S. state of Hawaii, English and Hawaiian are the two official languages; while Hawaiian Creole is widely spoken, Tagalog and Japanese are the 2nd and 3rd most spoken. Then there are the 3 most popular European Languages: Spanish, German, and French. Also considerably known languages are Ilokano, Chinese, Samoan, and Korean.

Then The Most Spoken World Languages…
http://www.nationsonline.org/oneworld/most_spoken_languages.htm
after english i think it is second right now
If USA has an spanish speaking president, yes.
I hope not.At least not Mexican Spanish its the worst!
I hope not.
Yup, its the most beautiful language ☻
I think it will be the most spoken language after the English language.
Whats the problem with the Mexican spanish speakers man?
They change a lot of words in their country [i dont like it too much] but thats the way they speak. Please Respect!
I know for a fact that it is the 4th most spoken language in the world….thats amazing.
I’d say that the firsts are: English, Arabic and Japanese.
No. English is still the most spoken language in the USA. I refuse to learn Spanish. (But I have different reasons than "I hate mexicans" or whatever) I plan on moving to europe and spanish isn’t a language I’m going to need.
No. However, I do think that Spanish will be the second most spoken language in the United States for some time to come after English.
The territories that languages occupy seem to be influenced by geography just like the types of religions that people believe in. It’s been cynically called "geographical determinism" by some people, but I think it’s true.
For example, if you are born in Arabia, there’s a 99% chance that you will become a Muslim; if you are born in Spain, there is about a 95% chance that you will be Roman Catholic and if you are born in Scotland, about a 95% chance that you wll be a Presbytarian.
It is much the same thing for languages. The American Southwest desert probably represents the northern-most limit for Spanish in the Western Hemisphere and the southern-most limit for English. In South America, Spanish is probably best suited for Argentina and Chilie but could get edged out in the rest of South America someday by Brazilian Portuguese. The northern South American countries all have more in common with Brazil, in some ways, than they do with Chile and Argentina.
In time, the Puerto Rican and Domincan Spanish enclaves in New York will almost certainly be absorbed into the surrounding English speaking region just as the Polabian speakers living near Hamburg and Berlin eventually became German speaking. .
Personally, I like all of the Romance languages, Spanish included. While I think that the English language still has many virtues, it does not compare in beauty with any of the Romance languages.
Yes, Just wait and see
no I don’t think that it will never happen! And it wont happen becouse Bush wont let it happen!
No lo creo que esto pase nunca i no va a pasar porque bush no lo va ha permitir!
I don’t know, but please speak a good spanish and not that mix of spanish+english, it’s really awaful :s
And I personally prefer spanish (good spoken one) too, it’s more expressful than english I think…but not too many americans would want to speak spanish instead english.
