Spanish Resources Archives

Hello!
I will be taking my exam (IB Year 2 Ab Initio Spanish = 2 Years of Spanish at a beginner level) this May and I am kinda stressed - our teacher has not really taught us a lot :( I am trying to find something on the internet which would have basic vocabulary words arranged in topics (school, jobs, a city, eating, etc) so that I could test myself/ study. Any suggestions/ past experience/ useful tips?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you!

My nephew is in high school an he wants a book in Spanish, does anyone know a good book in Spanish for a high school level student. Not too long not to short (the book)

It is all in English and it played on those pop (English) stations. It has a fast beat, and I believe it is an English adaptation of a Spanish song.

Please help me! I need it!

Just leave suggestions..

Thanks!
PS: I would like something that challenges me.

I'm teaching Nutrition to kids and adults of all different ages (3 classes: young children, adolescents, and adults) in the Dominican Republic. I'm looking for inexpensive books in Spanish that I can buy for the kids that are food/nutrition related so that they can learn the relation between food and good health. I don't know much Spanish (i'll have a translator) so it doesn't help me much searching for books. Any ideas?

I live in a listed building and satellite dishes are not allowed. I currently have freeview which is fine. Is there any way of receiving RTE, RAI UNO, TVE etc.. in my situation? I know there are a few PC solutions out there but that means leaving a PC permanently on just to watch tv? If a PC is the only route can anyone recommend a particular piece of software/service and is it legal? Thx!

I know there are a few PC solutions out there but that is not broadcast quality, it needs to be 'normal' quality. If you know of broadcast quality PC solutions please tell me! tkx

The reason I ask is because my hispanic neighbors wake me up around 3am every morning. There's a female that hangs out outside for about two hours laughing...it's REALLY annoying!

Six centuries ago Mayans were writing books. What was the attitude of the Spanish toward Mayan writing?

a They burned most of the books because they believed them to be dangerous and subversive documents.

b They insisted that the Maya write only in Spanish.

c They translated the writing into Spanish to unlock the secrets of the Mayan civilization.

d Spanish monks used them to study the Mayan language so they could translate the Bible into Mayan.

and how would you say that your voice came back?

all I'm asking for are spanish tv shows or movies that i can watch online for free. english subtitles would be cool but I'm not going to be picky.

thanks!

I want to learn the Spanish language. What free websites are there to help me ?
What other ideas do you have to help me learn Spanish for free ?
I am based in London in the UK

when they see his picture (he is wearing his priest uniform in the picture). He said this would happen every time in North American English TV talk shows. But on Spanish TV talk shows, they invite him to talk about his book because they respect priests there. As a result, his book is a best seller in Mexico, but does not do well in English speaking America. What do you think about this kind of discrimination?
His book is a self-help book about how to have a lasting marriage.
Oops, my wife just let me know that the priest is Cuban.
by the way, his book is translated into both Spanish and English. But he is a popular priest in Spanish speaking countries.

I remember there was a woman (whom sounded A LOT like Alicia Keys, but I doubt she was it) who sang in English, and there was a man singing Spanish parts. It had a part in it that went like, "I'm singing this song for you", or something along those lines. I tried googling that line, but I can't find it. I thought it was a really beautiful song, but now I can't find it. :(

Wife and I moving to costa rica in January 2008...

I Have All The Series Of The Books, Except The Last 2, But I Wanted Them In Spanish. But I Cant Find Them When I look Online Like At Borders And Stuff.:/

I'm going on vacation to Mexico, and I know basic spanish+ a little extra. Are there any tips for having conversations with people?

Thanks.

I'm going to Costa Rica and despite being told English is spoken, I was told I should get a good English/Spanish Conversational Phrase dictionary. I don't want just words but basic phrases translated and also I understand they don't speak traditional Spanish. I'm looking for things like Can I have the bill, How do I get to..., I have a reservation, etc.

all suggestions welcomed.

I used to speak spanish but stopped using it a long time ago and now I want to pick it back up again. Anyone know of a place online where I can got get a pen-pal to help with that?

I know all the words to the sentence, but I'm a bit foggy on whether it's "por mi clase de espanol" or "para mi clase de espanol". Which one is it? How do we know which one to use (por or para)? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!

In English we use passive voice sentences, e.g.
He writes a letter - A letter is written by him
So just like this can I say in Spanish? -
Escribe una carta - Una carta es escrito

I am learning Spanish and I am trying to find websites I can go to for free books written in spanish. I'm talking about an easy level of a book, like for young kids. Books you might read in school. thanks

UNI (Spanish) channel: I would like tv to caption the Spanish into English so that I can understand the programs. How can this be done?
Should I contact the tv mfr. or the cable company?

People have asked what I want my profession to be...I'm actually attending a jazz/contemporary music school.

How would you say "speaker" - like a speaker you would find in a radio or an amplifier - in Spanish? I tried Google Translate, but I don't know how to differentiate it from a speaker like a person who speaks.
