Can anyone recommend a good book to learn Spanish?
Hi, I would like to learn a bit of Spanish and to have a good base before I travel to Spain. I'd like some sort of interactive cd or dvd or something? Any recommendations?

Hi Sorcha,
Wow that sounds exciting that you are traveling to Spain soon, and I give you props for studying Spanish before you go.
It will really help, people get so excited when you come to their country and speak their language, and keep in mind, no matter how much or how little you speak it doesn’t really matter as long as you a trying.
I recommend a couple of choices that I feel are the best and worked for me. Rocket Spanish and Visual Link Spanish. They come with interactive lessons and down-loadable lessons (which are great for listening in your car or while jogging etc). And the price is extremely reasonable.
En Español
theres 4 levels ,if you’re a beginner i recommend En Español 1
i learned fluent spanish with it in school
the book is also in audio and video
the videos are on a website

Try just doing livemocha.com…plus spanish.about.com.
Together, you have a pretty good course, and in livemocha, you´ll meet lots of native speakers….not that many from Spain in there, but lots of natives to practice with.
And go to nosayudamos.ning.com….a few native Spaniards, there.
There are several free courses out there:
http://spanish-learning-software.com/index.php/learn-spanish-course
is one of them.
Depending on your learning style different software will work better or worse for you. There are some reviews at the site above. I also recommend viewing the product sites themselves. Don’t just look as what they offer or include but look at how they teach. This will help you choose something that will work for you.
You should try http://www.spanishluna.com they have a very good program and they can give you what u really need. Take care
