Any suggestions on ways to learn spanish quickly?
I'm puerto rican. My padres don't speak much spanish. My abuelos thought it would be better if they didn't introduce them to spanish so that english would be their first language and life in America would be easier for them. I know simple phrases like; I'm hungry, How are you, When's your birthday?, etc. But....I want to be fluent. Any suggestions on how to learn spanish quickly and isn't expensive? I wanted the Rosetta Stone but the price is unbelieveable. Please help. Gracias. =)

the best way is talking with fluent speakers, and/or visiting a Hispanic country. i reached AP Spanish 5 in high school and i still am not fluent. you need first hand exposure if you want to pick up a language quickly.
by the way, i dont know for sure since i have not tried it, but i’ve heard that Rosetta Stone is not that great. someone i know tried it without many results
Honestly, it’s extremely difficult. The best is to visit a Spanish-speaking country and stay there a while. I don’t think any lessons will teach it to you quickly. It really takes time, dedication and practice.
rosetta stone is the faster way to learn a language. its costly but i heard it works

I don’t know of a ‘quick’ way to learn several thousand vocabulary items. Thankfully you could probably get by with about three thousand words for a while, even with unperfect grammar — and by "get by" I mean at least be understood by a native speaker, even if your language use is not fully correct.
A fluent speaker has been immersed in the language for years, often from birth, so if you really want to be fluent, pace yourself and don’t be unrealistic with the time frame.
My goal too is to become "native speaker" fluent in Spanish, so perhaps I can help point you to good, and cheap, resources I have found useful. At the free site http://www.shelfari.com I run a group called Spanish Language Acquisition (you can find it through search) whose goal is to review books we’ve used to learn Spanish from. These books are certainly cheaper than Rosetta Stone, and I’m always trying to find perfect resources that don’t leave out important points – I want to learn it all! I’m constantly adding to my personal collection and reviewing them. You could provide reviews of your book experiences there too if you tried them or others.
I wish you the best on your journey. Feel free to message me through my profile if you want to try out what has worked for me so far or see if I have any other advice.
