I am traveling to Mexico and want to learn Spanish before I go. I'm sure I don't have enough time to learn the whole language (I only have like 4 months till I go) but i'd like to learn as much as I can. I can't afford Rosetta Stone so that's not an option. Are there any free or inexpensive alternatives that can teach me the language quickly?

Ok, so everytime I go somewhere and I'm checking out, the cashiers always talk to me in Spanish. Yes, I am Hispanic, but my primary language is English. I was born and raised in America. My mom is Hispanic, and my dad is of Italian descent. I look Hispanic, meanwhile my brother is as white as can be!! Anyway, it hacks me off when cashiers talk to me in Spanish. I reply to then in English, yet they reply in Spanish! The worst of these is the gas station attendant. He's an Arab ( go figure). How would he like it if I spoke to him in his "native language"? Well, just for fun I went home and taught myself a few words in Arabic (sp?). I went back o the gas station and said "hello, how is your day going?" Would you believe he laughed and told me he only speaks English?! Well, this made me mad beyond belief.
Does this kind of stuff happen to you when you go out? Do people ever speak to you in what they assume is your main language? Does it bother you? Share your experiences please!! :)

I'm sudying for a degree right now and I really want to stand out when I finally go out to interview for positions. Also, I think it's impossible to get a good job anywhere in the U.S if you can't speak spanish. I speak a little but I have a bad dialect and I find myself saying something really insulting when I was actually trying to give a compliment. Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

Hola!
I'm Asian, planning to visit Barcelona for 3 months to learn the language and culture. Wondering wheres the best place to learn espanol from... and how long do i really need to grasp the language, to be able to communicate in spanish fluently. I stumbled upon the Don quijeto and Camino school website, which is better?
It seems Camino offers salsa classes as well. should i take that or is it better if i take salsa classes else where?

so i started spanish this year, and i have a miserable grade in it and i want to know how to remember it easily and learn it, any ideas are helpful (:

I've tried it all, flash cards, ect. but I need a good study tool.
Please Help,
Thanks!

I have a few movies that have Spanish and English on them. Would watching them expand my vocabulary?

I know some spanish. I can hold short conversations about limited topics in the present tense.

Sorry if you've already seen this question. I posted it a while ago, but it never showed up.

I am trying to learn Spanish and was hoping that you guys could help me find some websites that teach you online for free. I already know about busuu.com but are there any others? Please help, thanks!

I know people get mad when someone asks them to go their work for them, but I already attempted to conjugate these sentences and I know they're all wrong. If anyone fluent in spanish that can do this in 5-10 minutes can help me, it would be greatly appreciated. This is the last grade of the 9 weeks so it is crucial.

1.) Hermanito took a shower and then dried himself with a towel.
2.) Our friends used to collect stamps in their free time.
3.) Next week we're going to get together with friends.
4.) Its not fair. I'm not interested in studying Spanish.
5.) Carlos began to fix cars at age 16.
6.) How long has Manuel been skateboarding?
7.) As a child I would always play the piano every day.
8.) Whose turn is it to make the bed? It's Lola's turn.
9.) Mama needs to sweep the dining room floor.
10.) My sister has been using the computer for 3 months.

Also, if there is a direct object, write the phrase with a pronoun of the direct object plz.

I really want to learn Spanish and I have bought a course. So I'd like to know if they really work.

I like the mountains and the sea. If I had to choose one, I'd choose to live near mountains. I also would like to learn as much Spanish as I can. Madrid?

Any sites?

thx=]

I will graduate with a degree in Spanish this year and want to become completely fluent and thought if I could work for a few months in a spanish-speaking country, I'd learn much faster.

I'm trying to learn spanish and I've heard of listening to couching while sleeping but what about learning while sleeping?

I'd try it myself but I can afford to waste any sleep. I just thought I might hear what other people have to say until I decide I'll have to take a shot.

Thanks everyone.

Well i wanna ask this boy out in spanish he really dosent talk spanish but he understands it ... I wanna ask if he wants to be my boyfriend .. Not on a date

I need 10 Spanish imperfect sentences that all start with Cuando yo era nino...pleasae and thanx!

Looking to learn Spanish on my commute. Thanks

I was wondering this cause right now in School I'm taking Spanish and think this was better than the other languages we got to pick from cause this language comes more in handy.
Am i right?

I paid 500 dollars for driving lessons with my own hard work and today while I was Driving my instructor was on his cell phone and he was talking in spanish saying "Yeah, the ugly one, I know, she's the one driving the car right now." while I was driving. He used the word "Minga" multiple times. I'm actually fluent in spanish despite not being spanish, and he clearly didn't realize that. What should I do? Should I call him out or too late?

Okay so I'm supposed to say "We are going to watch a spanish movie on friday." I wrote "Vamos mirar una pelicula espanol en viernes." My teacher said there is supposed to be a 'to' after vamos? how do I say that?

Then im also supposed to put a 'to' after vas in this sentence ?Vas ir la cine?

How do you say 'to' in that context??

I am thinking of taking my son to Italy or Spain for a month to learn a language - which is more useful?

I do not want to learn spanish, but I need a Foreign Language for school. I speak English perfectly and I can read it. The Classes offered at my school are french, spanish, and japanese, but if i learn another language, i can take a test and i officially know that language and plass the class without taking it.
